Section 2.2 (page 15) The following text should be added at the end of the section:

FSC application changes

Changes to the FSC application can cause invalid point databaseconfigurations, and may therefore have an impact on FSC-SMMoperation. For this reason, the FSC-SMM validates its point databasewhenever it detects an FSC application change. Since the Central Partthat is being modified will always be shut down, this only occurswhen the FSC-SMM is idle.

In general, every point with parameters referring to DCS addressesthat are no longer available in the FSC application will be inactivated. In addition, the value of these parameters will be set to zero to makesure that the operator is no longer able to activate the point. Theconfiguration of these points should be modified, or the points shouldbe deleted to reflect the new FSC application.Special caution is required when changing the digital and binary inputlocation 'COM' areas assigned to the FSC-SMM. The FSC variables inthese areas can be linked to flag arrays and numeric arrays that arepart of the SMM box point definition. When the flag array and/ornumeric array can no longer be properly mapped to the I and BIlocation 'COM' areas (See 'Assigning Alias Addresses'), the SMM willdelete its entire point database. This is the same defined action thatoccurs when changing the box point from the TDC side (UCN nodeconfiguration).

Please note that changing the FSC application can also affect theusability of previously stored checkpoints. When the box point withinthe checkpoint contains flag and/or numeric array definitions that canno longer be mapped to the I and BI location 'COM' areas, thecheckpoint cannot be restored. When the box point can be restored butthe checkpoint contains other points with links to DCS addresses thatare no longer available in the FSC application, these points will beinactivated. In general, the point configuration should be updated andcheck-pointed before the FSC application change occurs.
