He will use real life examples of 100dayJourney, a proven method to accelerate culture change and make those changes sustainable over time.

Dr Javier Bajer’s talent and passion is to develop extraordinary leadership at scale, re-engaging their people and finding concrete answers to the challenge of unlocking human talent in very practical ways. Working for You Isn’t Working for Me – How HR Can Help Employees Manage Their Bosses*

Katherine Crowley & Kathi ElsterPsychotherapist & Consultant

In this exclusive HR Summit presentation, Katherine & Kathi will discuss how sooner or later, every employee works for someone they can’t stand. When that happens, some people quit, some suffer in silence, and others cope by sulking, obsessing, avoiding, or retaliating. None of these options represents a good outcome for the business – which has invested time, money and effort into its human capital. When turbulent boss/employee relationships arise, it’s often up to HR to smooth the waters, but that can be easier said than done.

Fortunately, Katherine Crowley and Kathi Elster, the corporate psychologist and business strategist behind Working For You Isn’t Working For Me – The Ultimate Guide to Managing Your Boss, are here to help! Their presentation at HR Summit 2010 will show how HR can successfully advise and instruct any staff member who is grappling with a difficult authority figure. Filled with the concrete examples from actual corporate environments, they will show the audience how to manage some of the worst behaviors from bosses and staff alike. Chronic critics, yellers, unconscious discriminators, control freaks, pathological liars and absentee leaders will all be considered in a fun but thought-provoking exploration into boss/employee relations.

Katherine Crowley, a Harvard trained psychotherapist, and Kathi Elster a management consultant, are best-selling authors, educators, public speakers, and veteran consultants. They are seasoned guides in the area of professional fulfillment through self-awareness and self-management.

They’ve led workshops at Microsoft, Starbucks, Time Life, Martha Stewart Omni Media, and Pearson Education. Together they have written the business best seller Working With You is Killing Me: Free

Gyan NagpalRegional Head of Learning & Development Asia Pacific Deutsche Bank AG

9:00am-9:45amThe Role of HR in Enabling Change in RBSBrian McLarenRegiona HR Director, AsiaRoyal Bank of Scotland

In 2007, RBS had a relatively small presence in Asia with some 2,000 employees across the region. Then suddenly, with its well documented takeover of ABN Amro, that

figure rocketed to 23,000 in an instant. Enter Brian McLaren from Europe, to over-see the HR integration of what still is the world’s largest ever banking takeover. Fast-forward to September 2008, the collapse of Lehman Brothers, and the near-complete unraveling of the world’s financial system. The newly formed RBS Group found itself in un-chartered territory and Brian, along with his HR team, were faced with more professional challenges than many of us face in a lifetime.

In this fascinating inside case study, hear first hand how Brian and HR have faced and dealt with an incredible array of challenges and circumstances, including:

The initial merger and transition of teams and departments • Developing single HR protocols across a newly enlarged region• Maintaining morale during an about turn in markets and a sudden • rationalisation of the businessStaff communication and transparency when legislation requires no • disclosureWinning hearts and minds, whilst driving performance - when employees are • uncertain as to their future role and employerLeading an HR team when 50% of their work is completely new territory•

Brian McLaren has commented, “It is the most complicated task I have ever worked on by a long way. But I’ve never enjoyed the challenge quite so much.” Don’t miss Brian and this very special Inside Case Study, only at HR Summit 2010.

9:45am-10:30am Enhancing HR Management through Strategic CSR PracticesDr Richard WelfordChairman, Co Founder CSR Asia, Professor, University of Hong Kong, DirectorERP Environment

This exclusive HR Summit presentation will highlight the increasingly important interface between HRM and CSR. It will demonstrate that good CSR strategies can supplement good HRM and have positive impacts on recruitment, retention and productivity. In particular, Dr Welford will highlight opportunities in the areas of employee volunteering linked to strategic community investment strategies that can increase employee morale and thus help to build your brand as well as the reputation of the business. It will also highlight the business case for a strategy on diversity and inclusion in an environment where top talent is still hard to find.

Richard Welford has twenty years of experience working in the fields of environmental management and social responsibility. He was one of the early pioneers in developing social audit and reporting methodologies with UK-based organisations such as The Body Shop, IBM and Eastern Electricity in the 1990s. Since then, his work has been increasingly Asian focused as a result of his current position as director of the Corporate Environmental Governance Programme at the University of Hong Kong. He has sat on the Swire Environmental Committee as an external adviser for the past four years and has undertaken consultancy work with a number of leading companies, including MTR Corporation, Disney, CLP, Nike, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, HP, HSBC, Citigroup and Adidas.

11:00am-11:45amInspiring Your Team to Achieve Their Peak: How to Help Your Managers to Raise the Performance Levels of Their TeamJohn ShackletonPerformance Expert

In this HR Summit exclusive presentation, John Shackleton will show you how your managers can apply simple sports

psychology techniques to help their team to ‘raise their game’ in the business world. No matter what they are trying to achieve, an employee’s performance will ultimately be determined by their confidence and self-belief and it’s long been understood that it’s the manager’s job to coach their staff in these areas. However few managers understand how they can inspire their team and help them to develop greater levels of self belief and personal responsibility. Drawing from his background in international sports coaching John shows how you and your managers can use such coaching strategies and techniques to help staff become more self motivated and truly believe in their abilities. The sports coaching model suggests that the individual has within them all the potential necessary for achievement, all they require is a deep belief in themselves and their goal and the encouragement to achieve. Therefore the way we help others to learn must be by their direction, not ours, and for most managers this is the opposite of what they are doing currently!

John Shackleton has a background in Sports Psychology and has coached many world class athletes including Olympians and World Champions. He has also coached CEOs and senior executives from many of today’s blue chip companies including Coca-Cola, IBM and Pfizer. John has been speaking for more than 25 years and has won many accolades and awards including the coveted Speaker of the Year award from NSANZ.

John’s first book Life is for Living became a best seller before it arrived back from the printers and his most recent, Inspire Your Team is fast becoming a ‘coaching bible’ for managers throughout Australasia and Asia.

3:15pm-4:00pmStrategic Speed - Mobilise People, Accelerate ExecutionEdwin H BoswellPresident and Chief Executive Officer

Only 30% of strategic initiatives are successfully executed. Of those that are, most CEOs view the process as too slow. What’s going on? And how can you accelerate execution

in your company? Start by understanding the barriers to execution: Employees don’t grasp where an initiative is going. They don’t adopt new behaviours. They’re not committed to working together to achieve results. Meanwhile, their leaders try to speed things up by adjusting processes or installing new technologies. Better processes and systems won’t remove the barriers. Instead, you need to unleash three people factors:

Clarity—understanding the goal • Unity—collaborating across work groups• Agility—adapting quickly•

For the past 20 years, Dr Edwin Boswell has advised senior executives on executing strategic change. Some of the major clients Ed has helped achieve breakthrough business results through superior leadership throughout his career at Forum include Irving Oil, DuPont, Mellon Financial, and Merck.

2:30pm-3:15pmDriving Functional and Behavioural Competencies Across the GlobeBrian StantonGlobal Head of Learning & Development - Customer & Product TrainingRolls-Royce plc

Having launched the first phase of its global Learning Management System (LMS) in 2008, Rolls-Royce has utilised the additional functionality of the LMS in areas such as performance management and competence assessment. In this special extended HR Summit presentation, you can learn all about it. Rolls-Royce is one of the few global companies that has deployed the extended benefits offered by the major LMS platforms to assign and assess competencies for all employees. This activity supported a major corporate focus of ‘Functional Excellence’ where each of the key functions, Finance, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, HR etc. has taken global responsibility for defining generic jobs and associated competencies; previously, each of the major business units defined their own requirements and standards, leading to a multitude of methods of working and in many cases duplication of roles. The two-year project addresses the needs of all 38,000 employees at every level across all the countries in which Rolls-Royce operates. The project was managed through 21 major functional work streams that were then further divided into a total of 68.

Brian Stanton is currently responsible for the definition and deployment of the Rolls-Royce global customer and product training strategy. The bulk of his career has been spent in Rolls-Royce of which 27 years have been in a wide variety of training roles. 10:30am-11:15amSharpening the Competitive Edge of Human CapitalYong Fook ChyiDeputy Director Human Resources DivisionNational Parks Board

Singapore has been well-known internationally as a premier Garden City for the last 40 years. The lush

greenery, open, green recreation spaces, and the rich biodiversity are direct outcomes of a Whole-of-Government strategic effort to greening up our city. It’s helped make Singapore a desirable cosmopolitan city for people to live, work and play.

The success of the Singapore Garden City story is partly attributable to a strong and passionate team of multi-disciplinary professionals working in the National Parks Board (NParks), Singapore. In this exclusive presentation, Fook Chyi will share insights on the design and implementation of the framework to build and deepen NParks’ learning and sharing culture.

This framework, based on the organisation’s strategic imperatives and outcomes, builds on a competency-based system of both technical and management skills for all levels of staff. Staff learning is all-encompassing and includes e-learning, on-the-job training, professional upgrading, and professional certification. NParks’ senior and middle management levels take the lead by sharing their experiences and expertise, developing e-learning curricula, and through formal imparting of competencies in classrooms. The desired outcome is to build capacity and new capabilities for the organisation, and to sharpen the competitive edge of its human capital assets. In this way NParks is able to meet existing expectations and also prepare for future challenges.

12:30pm-1:15pmDifferent Stages of Psychological Development and What They Mean for Your EmployeesKatherine CrowleyPsychologist, Author and Speaker

When it comes to human capital, we are not all the same. Psychologically and chronologically an employee who is 25 years old experiences, values and prioritizes

work very differently from an employee who is 45. And a staff member who is 65 requires a different kind of treatment than his or her younger peers if the company wants to get optimum output from that individual.

Today’s world of work must make room for employees of all ages and stages of development. HR can pave the way by understanding some of the basic differences among employees depending on their stage of life.

Harvard-trained psychotherapist Katherine Crowley offers an introduction to the different stages of psychological development for adults from the ages of 20 to 70.

Understand the psychological and emotional orientation of employees at • each stage of development.Explore what employees require from supervisors, peers, and management • depending on where they are in their life cycle.Discover what HR professionals can do to help employees progress • professionally while they juggle the developmental challenges of each stage.

Katherine Crowley is a trained psychotherapist and the co-author of Working for You Isn’t Working for Me - The Ultimate Guide To Managing Your Boss and the best selling business book Working With You is Killing Me – Freeing Yourself From Emotional Traps At Work.
