HOW DO I DRIVE THIS THING?

LOWER (EMERGENCY) CONTROLSLower Controls should be used during the

following situations:

•During Pre-Use Inspection of Lift Functions

•By the Spotter ONLY After Given Permission to Operate a Function by the Operator

•By the Spotter To Override the Upper Controls and Gain Access to the Operator in the Event of an Emergency

WHAT DOES THE SPOTTER DO? Spotters walk ahead and around of the

operating lift and pay special attention to the lift route of travel to watch and warn the

operator about:

•Doorways

•Blind corners

•Low overhead clearances

•People approaching from front or rear

•Hazards on the floor like power cords

or tools

SPOTTERS’ JOB AT DOORWAYS

•Automatic doors must be propped or held open long enough to allow the lift to pass through the doorway

•When entering and exiting the elevator, spotter must hold the “Door Open” button open until the lift is fully on or fully off the elevator car.
