VISION FOR CA-CHPS

Harmonize• CA-CHPS Criteria

Update• CALGreen/Title 24• State and Utility

Incentives• Educational

Initiatives

• Replaces CHPS Low Emitting Materials (LEM) Table

• Expanded to include other environmental attributes such as Recycled Content

• Searchable high performance building product database

• Goal is to make available products that help schools meet CHPS and other green building criteria

• Products can be 3rd party certified or self-certified

CHPS High Performance Products Database

Tire Derived Product Min Recycled Content

Flooring* 50%

Roofing Materials 50%

Parking Stops 100%

The following TDPs that meet the minimum recycled content are included on a list from which schools can select materials that contribute to CHPs points via the ‘prescriptive approach’.

CHPS Criteria and Tire Derived Products

*TDPs used indoors need to meet standards for low-emitting materials

All other TDPs can still be listed in the CHPS High Performance Products Database, and can be used to contribute to CHPS points using the ‘performance approach’. That is where the weighted average recycled-content of all materials is 10% for 1 point, or 20% for 2 points.

Member Products Listed First

CHPS and Database References• 2013 CALGreen

• Referenced for Low-Emitting Materials • Recycled Content to be added in 2016

• Cites “listed in the CHPS High Performance Products Database” for the NonResidential Mandatory Measures for Flooring.

• Referenced for all building types, not only schools, making the database a one-stop shop

• LEED v4• CHPS self-certified products are specifically accepted for

the EQ Low-Emitting Materials Credit (Low Emitting Materials Third Party Certification Table); again, not only for school buildings.
