Subforms

• Allows users to embed one form in another, in order to repeat a set of questions

• Example: embed a “WORA” form into a household form, in order to collect the same data for each of the WORA in the household

Push (Auto-Update)

• Old Magpi: user had to specify which forms to be downloaded to device

• New Magpi: all of a user’s forms are automatically downloaded to the device when connected

• Changes or deletions automatically propagated also

Photos

• Collect images as part of data record

Interactive SMS

• Deployment of forms via

back-and-forth SMS

• Includes basic skip logic

– Right now all responders to SMS data collection must be

known in advance

– Soon users will be able to text “JOIN” + keyword to initiate

interactive or structured SMS data collection

• Umbrella account features for Enterprise: Enterprise account

able to dispense upload credits, monitor sub-account usage,

provide templates to subaccounts


FYI: Kopernik evaluation

• Kopernik was funded by Rockefeller to evaluate tech tools for

development, including data collection tools

• Magpi rated most highly among all tools, on all parameters:

usability, scalability, transferability, rapidity (of deployment),

affordability
