RATED AS PROBABLY THE STRONGEST TYPHOON EVER TO STRIKE THE PHILIPPINES 5. LANDFALL ON FRIDAY MORNING, NOV. 8 6. TACLOBAN (ON LEYTE ISLAND) HIT HARD 7. TACLOBAN AIRPORT 8. INITIAL IMPACTS IN THE PHILIPPINES Wide spread flooding and power outages Winds of 380 kph (290 mph) TACLOBAN hit very hard by the storm surge Taclobans airport destroyed 9. TWO EXACERBATING FACTORS 1) ANOTHER TYPHOON WITH APPROXIMATELY THE SAME PATH EXPECTED IN 3-4 DAYS 2) HAIYAN FOLLOWED A DAMAGING QUAKE 12. The typhoon Impacted Bohol, where a 7.2 magnitude earthquake left thousands homeless in October. 13. LOCATION MAP 14. BOHOL: THE PHILIPPINES 10TH LARGEST ISLAND 15. 8:12 AM, OCTOBER 15, 2013 At 8:12 am, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake occurred at a depth of 20 km (12 miles) near Carmen and Cebu city. 43,000 people impacted.
