What's your favorite part of November? What comes to your mind as we draw near to November? First and foremost for God's people is the expectation of Thanksgiving. We are reminded of that with our own table prayer from the psalms: "Give thanks to the Lord for he is good. His mercy endures forever.” For us as a church family, Thanksgiving signals the beginning of the "holiday season.” This includes: Thanksgiving worship, Advent Wednesday worship right after Thanksgiving, and preparations for Christmas. For some, this month means deer hunting, getting the outdoor Christmas lights up, and checking on the snow blower. But let's not forget something else. November's Sundays focus our attention on the End Times season. After Reformation, the themes are: Last Judgement, Saints Triumphant, and Christ the King. Advent Worship (Church updates cont. from pg. 3)

“Preparing for a Miraculous Birth” is our Advent theme for 2017. Advent helps us focus on the true meaning of Christmas, namely, that a Savior from sin is coming. Our Wednesday services will be led by pastors from Eternal Love and Riverview. The service dates are Nov 29, Dec 6, and Dec 13. In response to our survey, we will be adding a third service on Advent Wednesdays. So our schedule will be 10 am, 3:15 pm, and 6:30 pm. "O come let us worship the Lord!" Fellowship meals will be served each week from 4-6 pm. On Nov. 29th the Funeral Committee will be serving Ham and Turkey Sandwiches

Thanksgiving Worship This year we will again have three options for Thanksgiving worship. 1. St. Matthew Lutheran will have a traditional service at 6:30 pm with Pastor Jon Kuske preaching. 2. Riverview will host Branches Band, a husband and wife duet who will give a 6:30 pm concert/worship service in our gymnasium. Our school children, grades 3K – 8, will sing and Pastor Belter will offer the devotion. A free will offering will benefit the Branches Band. 3. On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, the traditional service led by Pastor Kuske will take place at 9:00 am AT RIVERVIEW. There will also be a supper in our Fellowship Hall before the Wednesday night service from 5-6 pm. The RLS Athletic Association will be serving chili.
