It will also be posted on DRUND, announced on the local television stations and you will receive an automated phone call. 2-HOUR DELAY: The building will open for supervision at 9:30 a.m. The tardy bell will ring at 10:10 a.m. During the school day, there will be no morning special classes (art, gym, music, library) or recess. Dismissal times and proce- dures will remain the same. Please be sure the office has a correct phone number and address on file to ensure you receive important phone calls from the automated system regarding 2-hour delays and school cancellations. BLIZZARD BAGS: Just a reminder to parents that Blizzard Bags have been posted on the SES website. To access Blizzard Bag materials, visit the Calamity Dayspage under the Studentstab on the SES homepage. It will be an- nounced in an automated call when this is necessary to complete the assignments.

News from the PTA Join us for our monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 5 at 6:30 p.m.

Children are welcome to attend with their parents. There are many activities to sign up and volunteer for.

January 14 will be crazy sock day at SES! All students are encour-aged to wear their favorite pair of colorful socks. There will be a Sock Hop for 3

rd and 4

th Grade students that evening from 6-7 p.m. More

information will be sent home with your child.

Outdoor Recess Reminders There will be outdoor recess unless the weather is 30 degrees or its equivalent considering the wind chill factor. Often we will take the children out for just a short time if it is a cold sunny day. We ask that you please see that your child is dressed appropriately for this kind of outdoor recess. (This includes Heavy coats, gloves, scarves, boots, etc.)

SES Updates

A NOTE FROM THE NURSE With the HIPPA privacy laws, the nurse is NOT permitted to give the staff a complete list of children with various health needs. The only notifications can be given are life threaten-ing illnesses—Asthma, Life-Threatening Allergies, Diabe-tes, Seizure Disorder. If there is something you would like your child’s teacher or the of-fice to be aware of concerning their health or medications, allergies, etc. you must notify them directly. Any student needing medica-tion while at school must have a doctor’s order on file. No stu-dent is allowed to carry or self-administer medication without a doctors order. Please call the nurse if your child needs to take medication while at school, she can provide you with the necessary forms.

CAFETERIA NEWS Reminder to parents: Please keep track of your child’s breakfast and lunch ac-counts so that they have mon-ey to purchase meals. If you have any questions, please call the cafeteria at ext. 41525.

WALKING PROGRAM Starting Nov. 2nd, Struthers Elementary School will be open from 3:30-5:00 p.m. every Monday-Thursday for commu-nity walking. The program ends March 31,2016. Walkers are asked to park in the rear lot and enter and exit through the back doors. The school will only be available on the days school is in session.

CAMP FITCH The Fourth Grade class will be going to Camp Fitch from May 4-6, 2016. More information will follow next month.
