Safe Zone 101 Series 10/7/2019 1:00—4:00 pm Safe Zone is a three-hour training designed to educate and empower participants to be agents of change against issues faced by in-dividuals across the gender, sexual, and romantic spectrums.

Classified Staff Flu Shot Clinic 10/9/2019 8:00—10:00 am Free flu shots are provided to all classified employees with the state medical plan. FYI - Up to 20% of the US popula-tion contracts the flu annually. Flu shots makes it easy to protect yourself and your family.

UNC Concert Series: Izcalli 10/11/2019 7:30—10:00 pm Izcalli has become one of the most recognized and beloved bands in the Denver area. Their unique blend of styles has been care-fully sculpted with a relentless work ethic, pride and authentic passion for the high-energy music the band puts out to the world.

Spectrum Concert Series: 9 Horses 10/14/2019 7:30 pm—9:30 pm 9 Horses is an improvising chamber ensemble with incendiary, genre-hopping virtuosity. The trio at the core of 9 Horses repre-sents a musical future with no barrier between the old notion of “folk art” and “fine art, and an ensemble capable of communicating this idea through musical canvases both great and small.

All equipment rentals are free! The Gear Shop is a great resource for all UNC outdoor enthusiasts. Res-ervations can be made by using the online reservation form or just come by the Gear Shop. All equipment is reliable and in great condition to allow users a fun outdoor experience free of charge. Choose from Hik-ing/camping equipment, snow or water sports gear, biking and climbing equipment, and even camp games! At least 2 days notice required to reserve by the day, over the weekend or by the week.

*NOTE: The Gear Shop staff are also available to help you plan your trip.

Gear shop hours: M&F 11 am—6 pm, T-Th 11 am—5 pm, Closed on University holidays and weekends. Located on the west entrance of Harrison Hall.

OUTDOOR PURSUITS PROGRAMS

FREE JIU-JITSU INTRODUCTION & PRACTICE,

open to FACULTY, STUDENTS, AND STAFF Jiu-jitsu is a ground-based/wrestling-type fighting system that utilizes a variety of holds and submissions (chokes, joint locks, etc.) and can be used in competition or for self-defense. Because we’re grappling and not punching or kicking anyone, we can practice at near 100% intensity without the type of injury or wear and tear on the body that you’d ex-perience in other full-contact fighting arts. It’s great for all body shapes and sizes and a fun and exciting way to get a good workout.

We’re open to all UNC students, faculty, and staff and we hold drop-in practices on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 – 8 p.m. in the UNC Wrestling Room in Butler-Hancock. All skills levels are invited and workout clothes are fine. There is no charge to practice at this time. If anyone has any questions, they can get in touch with me. Thanks!
