From the President……

I hope everyone is looking forward to our cook out meeting on May 2nd at Serpentini Tallmadge. If it is nice weather, please drive your Corvette.

Our May 15th Car Show is rapidly approaching and, as always, we will need your help and support. Look for Gail’s write-up in this newsletter.

On Sunday, April 17th, we had 18 club members, 9 Corvettes and 3 guests attend the Progressive Car show hosted by Corvette Canton and Buckeye CC. In attendance at the show were Alan and Gail Moore, Tom and Diane Geul, Frank and Bonnie Smith, Chuck and Elaine Heretta, Greg Gruhn, Dave and Lori Weninger, Dan Rinaldo, Judy Spada, , Jerry and Joan Wagner, Diana and Bill Bray, George Ortopan, guests Ken and Connie Clausen and Maria Ortopan joined us at Panchos.

There were 106 Corvettes entered in seven sanctioned events. We all hung out and had a great time at Pancho’s restaurant afterward. Hope I didn’t forget anyone. It would be great if we could have these attendance numbers at more regional Car Shows.

Vice President’s Report - May 2016 Gail Moore It’s getting close – our first event(s) of the year. Just looking back a few days, we had many people attend the first EO event this year at Progressive Chevrolet. The weather was absolutely FANTASTIC, and over 20 of us went to Poncho’s for Mexican food!

Back to the upcoming events!

Sunday, May 15 Serpentini Chevrolet Tallmadge, Ohio

As we have been reminding people, we are asking every single or couple in the Club to furnish a basket to be used for a drawing at the event. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! Either bring the basket to the May meeting at Serpentini, or call and we’ll make arrangements to pick it up!

We still need workers, so either sign up at the meeting, or call, and we’ll add you to the list. We especially need help moving cars (Saturday evening or Sunday at the end of the show); Placing cars for the show, and assisting with the presentation of trophies.

This is one of our two biggest fund-raisers of the year, so your help is VERY MUCH needed. We plan to see you there!

NCCC GOVERNORS REPORT Alan Moore The biggest news from the National Governors meeting is that there will be no 2017 Convention. Seems that the Corvette Motor Sports Park doesn’t want us. NCCC has been told that the track has now lost over a million dollars and they can’t afford to let all the Clubs to use the credit from giving their $15,000 dollars to the Track, then getting that agreed amount to use for track rental. Wendell Strode has stated they never thought that clubs would use their credits. Any Group that is still paying for their acreage has been told by NCCC to hold on to their money. The museum claims that NCCC has given very little to the Museum and the Track. The problem is that the Museum will not count any donations from individual NCCC members and Clubs toward that contribution. Our records show that nearly half the museum total donations have come from NCCC members and Clubs. Three NCCC members have actually donated over a million dollars each. After much back and forth negotiations, NCCC received their final contract for the 2017 Convention with a take it or leave it declaration from the track and the museum. This contract was 23 pages long and held these stipulations.

(1) The track could cancel our contract up till 60 days from the date of convention if they received a better offer on the rental and we were unwilling to pay the higher fee.

(2) That up till 30 days till convention the Track could make changes to the contract even if NCCC did not approve of these changes.

(3) That NCCC would have to hire the track corner workers for the Convention and pay their Workers Comp..

(4) That NCCC could not use their One Acre credit toward the track rental.

Page 6: UPCOMING EVENTS...attendance at the show were Alan and Gail Moore, Tom and Diane Geul, Frank and Bonnie Smith, Chuck and Elaine Heretta, Greg Gruhn, Dave and Lori Weninger, Dan Rinaldo,

(5) When NCCC asked for the rental fees (in writing) we were told if the fee needed to be provided at that time, it would be double the 2016 fees.

(6) All entrants would need to have approved drivers suits including street cars. (This requirement is also in the signed East Ohio Contract for 2017)

(7) That NO ONE other that the entrant could be on the Track property. (8) That No one could wear a yellow shirt on the track property. (9) Wendell Strode sent the NCCC President an email during the NCCC meeting that

as far as the contract went, “That the rules are the rules, take it or leave it” and cancelled his speaking engagement for this year’s NCCC Convention.

Another problem was the Host Hotel; Their contract specifies if NCCC were to cancel the Convention within 60 Days of the Convention NCCC would owe the Hotel an $80,000 penalty, If we cancel within 30 days of Convention we would owe a $120,000 penalty.

BOTTOM LINE: NO CHANCE OF A CONVENTION IN BOWLING GREEN FOR 2017.

If anyone now wishes to attend the 2016 Convention the Convention Treasurer says she will accept registrations that can be late for the May cut off date for a few extra days if you contact her.

Currently there are no bids for a 2018 Convention – Bids were due at this NCCC Meeting.

At the RCD Meeting I again asked about requiring NCCC cards to be shown at registration, the RCD’s again voted not to add this rule back into the NCCC Competition Rulebook and again felt that it was a Region problem, and if a Region wished to have this rule then they should pass it for a Regional Rule. (The Mid West Region has such a requirement).

We asked about requiring Clubs wishing to park together be required to arrive together and it was decided that a Club has no requirements to move other cars so that Clubs could all park together.

The new 2017 Grand Sport will be placed in “N” Class. (The Grand Sport is a Z06 without the Z06 motor).

The new Competition Rulebook for 2017/2018 will be presented to the Governors at the Sept. NCCC Governors Meeting. A Red Lined copy should be available prior to the Sept. Meeting.

The new Charity for NCCC will be: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the new Charity Director will be Michele Cantelmo of the East Region.

As of April 24 NCCC has 249 Clubs and 18,000+ members.

2016 Convention: Day passes to go on sale June 1st, 2016. Currently there are 321 signed up for Convention.

Next Regional Meeting: May 21, 2016, Belgrade Gardens, 3476 Massillon Rd.. Uniontown Oh. 44685 @9:30 am. Everyone is welcome
