Upcoming Events Continued Today is Divine Mercy Sunday. Jesus appeared to
St. Faustina in a vision, with his right hand raised in
a blessing and his left touching his garment above
his heart. Red and white rays emanate from his
heart, symbolizing the blood and water that was
poured out for our salvation and our sanctification.
The Lord requested that “Jesus, I trust in You” be
inscribed under his image. Jesus asked that his
image be painted and venerated throughout the
world: “I promise that the soul that will venerate
this image will not perish” and “By means of this
image I will grant many graces to souls”.
The Chaplet was also given to St. Faustina with this
promise: “Encourage souls to say the chaplet which
I have given you”. “Whoever will recite it will
receive great mercy at the hour of death… Even if
they were a sinner most hardened, if he were to
recite this chaplet only once, he would receive
grace from My infinite mercy. I desire that the
whole world know My infinite mercy”.
The Divine Mercy Novena began on Good Friday.
Pamphlets can be found on the tables in the back of
the church.
We will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet 30 minutes
before each Mass.
In addition, our neighboring parishes are hosting
Divine Mercy Sunday Celebrations.
Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Biloxi will have a
Divine Mercy Sunday Celebration on April 28.
Confessions at 2:00 pm
Mass at 3:00 pm.
St. Joseph Parish in Gulfport will have a Divine
Mercy Sunday Celebration on April 28 at 3:00 pm.
The celebration will include:

Benediction
During May, we will recite the Rosary thirty
minutes before each Mass and need volunteers to
lead the Rosary. There is a sign-up sheet on the
round table in the back of the Church.
The 2019 Diocesan Confirmation
Ceremony will be held at the
Cathedral of the Nativity of the
Blessed Virgin Mary at the 11:00
am Mass on Pentecost Sunday,
June 9. The ceremony is intended

confirmed and for high schoolers who have been
prepped for the Sacrament, but who were unable to

An Update from the Pastor
In last week’s bulletin, I provided a copy of a letter
that I had sent to Don Hinton, Executive Director
of the Mississippi High School Activities
Association (MHSAA), regarding the scheduling of
sporting events on Good Friday. I am happy to
report that Mr. Hinton called me this week to
discuss my concerns. He was very hospitable on the
phone and noted that there may have been some
miscommunication with St. Patrick Catholic High
School. He was very supportive of the privilege we
have in observing Good Friday traditions and
practices and said that the MHSAA tries to
accommodate schools’ event schedules in
accordance with their calendars and observances. I
am grateful that Mr. Hinton reached out and for the
opportunity to cordially talk with him.
