1. UPC modem connection

If you have received a modem within your self-installation package, plug the modem in first, according to the instructions.

2. Insert UPC decoder card into Mediabox

If the UPC decoder card D has not been inserted already, insert it with the chip facing upwards and forward into the hole on the front panel of HD Mediabox A . The card must be pushed in properly so that its edge overlaps only by a few millimetres.

3. Plug Mediabox into cable TV socket

With the help of the coaxial cable G plug the HD Mediabox A into the cable TV socket (see diagram below in this instruction). Make sure that both ends are connected properly.

4. Connect your TV to Mediabox

With the help of the HDMI cable E connect the HD Mediabox A to your TV.If your TV does not have an HDMI outlet, you can connect Mediabox with your TV through a SCART cable (not included in the package).

5. Plug Mediabox into electric socket

With the help of the network cable with adapter F plug the HD Mediabox A into electric network.

6. Connect Mediabox with modem

If you have received a modem or you have been using it from previous installation of UPC services, connect it to the Mediabox according to the diagram below. This way you will ensure correct functionality of all interactive features including the access to MyPrime video library (if you have ordered this service) or to Replay TV.

With the help of the Ethernet cable H connect the HD Mediabox A eith the UPC modem. Make sure that both ends are connected properly.

Use arrows (Up/Down) on your remote control to choose a language and press OK.

Welcome screen will appear

Read through the given terms and press OK when the I AGREE field is active.

This screen will only appear if the HD Mediabox is not connected to the modem. If you have not done it before, connect them now.

Select a Country: ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA

Choose one of the options of energy consumption. Press OK for Fast Start (RECOMMENDED), which will ensure you a quick launch of Mediabox and watching TV within 5 seconds. Press the back button for ECO mode to reduce energy consumption when Mediabox is switched off. In the ECO mode, the launch takes longer (over 1 minute). Find more information on energy consumption in the Q&A section further in this manual.

After installation, the main menu will appear.

5. Questions and answers

What to do if my HD Mediabox does not load after the first plug-in?

If the HD Mediabox does not load within 10 minutes, disconnect the power cable for 10 seconds. This will restart the HD Mediabox. The HD Mediabox should load after plugging it in again.

How can I activate and use the replay TV broadcasting?

The activation of Replay TV is described in the user manual of HD Mediabox, all it takes is to confirm the request for recording of shows for your own needs. The window with the request will appear when you first play an already aired show. Please note that the broadcasting will start recording in the moment of activation, i.e. you cannot rewind TV broadcasting on the day of activation.

If you want to play an already aired show, go to the TV guide and pick a show with arrows on your remote control. Press OK and confirm PLAY FROM THE BEGINNING.

How can I use Video Library and Apps?

All interactive features are available after connecting the HD Mediabox to a UPC modem. You can connect those devices with an Ethernet cable that is included in the self.installation package. More information is given in the user manual.

How can I record films and other shows on the HD Mediabox? How can I play them afterwards?

You need to connect the HD Mediabox with an external hard drive to be able to record and play TV shows. You can find the requirements for the storage medium and information on connection on the next page of this guide.

To record a show, enter the TV guide and pick a show that will be aired. Press the REC button on your remote control.

To play your recorded shows or to see the scheduled recordings, enter the main menu and go to the LIBRARY section.

How to set up the HD Mediabox if it is connected to the TV with a SCART cable?

If your HD Mediabox is connected to your TV with a SCART cable, not all text fields must be displayed correctly. Therefore you need to optimize the HD Mediabox in the main menu through: TOOLS – ADVANCED SETTINGS – OPTIMIZE FOR HDMI – SCART.

How can I influence the speed of HD Mediabox launch, and thus also energy consumption?

HD Mediabox offers two options of energy consumption in standby mode, which influences the speed of the switching on of the device (MAIN MENU – SETTINGS – FAVORITES – STANDBY MODE).

1) QUICK START – RECOMMENDED

HD Mediabox will enter operating mode almost immediately. The energy consumption is higher in this mode.

2) ECO

In the ECO mode, HD Mediabox will switch from standby mode to operating mode after a couple of seconds. The relaunch takes longer. Energy consumption in this mode is lower.

4. Pairing remote control with TV

If you want to control the HD Mediabox and your TV with one device, follow the instructions below:

Your TV and HD Mediabox have to be turned on

Point the HD Mediabox remote control towards the HD Mediabox and press the TV button on the remote control

Then press and hold the OK button and the red button at the same time, until the TV button blinks twice (in red)

With the help of numerical keyboard on the remote control type in the code of your TV

Below are codes for the most common TV brands in the Czech and Slovak Republic:

It is necessary to try all the codes for the given brand of TV. If you did not find your TV here, additional codes are indicated at www.upc.cz .

The pairing will take place in the moment of the TV button blinking twice (in red)

Press the button TV off / on. If the TV switches itself off, check other functions (e.g. sound, channel switching). If everything works, the pairing was completed successfully

If the TV does not switch itself off, try typing in another code that is indicated with the TV device (begin with the second step above).

Your personal video recorder

You can easily connect an external drive to the HD Mediabox to record TV broadcasting. Your HD Mediabox will become a video recorder that will help you keep your favourite films and shows.

We recommend the use of a hard drive with following parameters:

Capacity between 160 and 500 GB. We do not recommend a hard drive with a higher capacity. Proper function could not be ensured because of insufficient power supply.

USB 2.0 or newer

Minimum cache 4 MB, we recommend 8 MB

Write and read speed at least 30 Mbps

We do not recommend USB flash discs

Connect the hard drive into the USB on the rear side of the HD Mediabox. You need to format the hard drive before the first use. To format the hard drive, press MENU, then SETTINGS, ADDITIONAL SETTINGS, HORIZON MEDIABOX and FORMAT DISC.

Warning: When formatting a hard drive, all saved files will be permanently deleted.
