Medicine is about high-tech and about people; it involves continuous innovation. Communication and continual professional development are the driving forces in this field of research and business activity. Our ability to offer a tailor-made platform for discussions between academic and business sectors – that is where our strength lies. To that end, we work closely with experts and professional associations, listen carefully to what they want and analyse their needs. As a major centre of the healthcare industry, Leipzig offers the very best possible conditions for this, with many well-recognised products in the field of medicine and bio-technology, internationally renowned clinics, hospitals and researchers who are well-respected in the world’s scientific community and based in the University of Leipzig, at the Leipzig University Hospital and the Leipzig Heart Centre. We are very efficient at taking advantage of their expertise and networks. Listen, then act! – It is a tried and tested strategy for success. In 1996, we began with just one medical event. Today we are excellently positioned, covering the world’s leading trade show and the world-class specialist congress. Our medical trade shows and congresses are amongst the must-attend events in the sector’s calendar. The Congress Center Leipzig, situated in the Leipzig Trade and Exhibition Centre, is one of the top locations for symposia and exhibitions. Moreover, from 2015, the historic KONGRESSHALLE at the Leipzig Zoo will be available, too, with its extensive and flexible range of rooms and events area. Every year, we run numerous medical conferences, many of them with more than 1,000 participants. The medical sector is firmly established as part of our portfolio, and is one of the future-proofed areas in the global trade fair and congress business. We are constantly extending our sphere of competence in this field, and are in continual dialogue with our partners about it. In the pages that follow, we present our current range of medical shows. As you will be able to see – the medical world is very much at home in the Leipzig Fair and Exhibition Centre. With kind regards and best wishes,
Martin Buhl-Wagner President & Chief Executive Officer of Leipziger Messe GmbH

A HOME ALL OVER THE WORLD
The World Congress of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) moves from continent to continent every two years. In 2010, the sector’s two most important events came together in Leipzig to create a really unique trade fair and congress for orthopaedic technology. The
ISPO World Congress and OTWorld joined forces to become one large, unique event. This very successful joint venture gave birth to a long-term collaboration. Since then, Leipziger Messe has been, and continues to be, responsible for organising the exhibition to accompany the ISPO World Congress, thus providing support for exhibitors as they enter new countries and new markets.
Scientific congress at top level
The ISPO World Congress is a unique interactive forum where many professionals involved in the care of patients in need of a prosthesis or an orthosis (P&O) come together to learn about the latest scientific and clinical advances, products, innovative technologies, designs and materials in prosthetic and orthotic care. The interdisciplinary programme features symposia, instructional courses, manufacturers’ workshops and poster sessions. This congress also offers P&O professionals a unique oppor-tunity for professional development through discussion and exchange amongst teachers, clinicians, researchers, technicians, manufactur-ers, doctors and therapists.
