The Skilled Graduate Visa

The Australian Government has a special visawhich is used to respond to the lack of a classof professionals in the workforce. Therefore,this visa is intended for recent overseas

graduates to sustain that profession in thefuture. However, overseas graduates onlyqualify if their discipline and university havebeen specifically selected by the Government.

The most recent legislative instrument (FRLIF2010L02496 – 17 Sep 2010) stipulates that only graduates with a discipline inEngineering may apply. Further, only thosewho have graduated from the listeduniversities may apply. In the Philippines, the

University of the Philippines has beenselected as the only eligible university. This isbecause it has been recognized by Australianemployers as offering a world-class degreeprogram in Engineering.

To qualify, the graduate MUST:

be 30 years old or under

hold an eligible degree in Engineering(Bachelor’s, Masters, Doctoral,postgraduate diploma) from U.P.

have graduated within the last 2 years

have an IELTS English Language overallscore of 6.0

pass a medical & criminal history check

The applicant DOES NOT need to:

have any previous work experience

pass the points test assessment be sponsored or nominated by anAustralian relative

have an employment contract beforegoing to Australia

This special visa allows the graduate to:

work and live anywhere in Australia for18 months

bring their partner and dependent children with them

engage in any type or length of work,study or travel – there are no restrictionson this visa

apply at anytime for permanent residency in Australia once they areable to pass the points test criteria

We will also assist you with the following:

o Competitive flights from Manila toAustralia;

o Temporary accommodation or home stayarrangements if required

o Useful resources on employment, jobsearching skills, housing, banking, traveland Australian culture

o Connect you with the local Filipino-Australian community groups orassociations in your intended city of residence

Each applicant will also be given a free copyof the “Graduate Careers Australia – Graduate

Opportunities” CD directory. This includes alisting of graduate employers from theEngineering & IT industries.

A pre-departure orientation may also be heldin Manila subject to the number of visasapproved at one time.

Fees & Charges

The Skilled Graduate visa is charged at onerate of $2,500 Australian dollars*(approximately P107,500 Philippine Pesos)

and is payable in two installments. Thisamount is inclusive of all our professionalimmigration services, IELTS examination fee,Visa Application Charges to the AustralianGovernment, and resources for employment,housing and other useful information foryour immigration to Australia. If a medicaland NBI clearance is necessary, you arerequired to pay these extra costs.

If you intend to bring your partner and

dependent children, additional charges willbe applicable. This will vary depending onthe number of additional secondaryapplicants.

* Fees & charges are subject to change without

prior notice.

Payment details and AUDPHP conversionrates are subject to the Client ServicesAgreement on the date the contract is signed.

In the unlikely event that your SkilledGraduate visa is denied, you may be entitledto a refund of the 2nd installment fee.

However, you will not be entitled to a refundwhere you have:

Provided false or misleadingdocumentation;

Failed to disclose or provided misleadinginformation about yourself that resulted

in your visa being denied, such as healthissues or criminal history; or

Failed to make any outstandingpayments that are overdue.

1st Installment = AU$2,000

(approx. PHP 86,000)

(approx. PHP 21,500)

How To Apply

To apply for the Skilled Graduate visa:

1. Contact Mr Mark David at our Philippinesoffice to arrange an initial consultation on

2. Once the 1st installment fee has beenreceived, an IELTS examination date will bearranged for you

3. Bring the following documents to becertified at our affiliate office in Quezon City:a) passport, b) academic transcript,c) certificate/diploma, d) IELTS test results

4. Your documents will then be sent to ourMelbourne office for preparation andlodgement. The 2nd installment fee will bedue.

5. If the DIAC requests for a medical and NBIclearance, we will arrange for your medical at an Australian Government appointed paneldoctor in Manila

6. You will be informed immediately onceyour visa is approved – please allow between3 to 7 months

7. A post-approval consultation will bearranged to provide you with youremployment resources and Australianimmigration information. We will alsodiscuss with you about where you wish tolive, flights and accommodation. A pre-departure orientation may also be held inManila subject to the number of visasapproved at one time.

8. You should aim to arrive into Australiawithin a month from when your visa isapproved.
