Supercorp argument against shifting of HQ

Transcript of Untitled 1

SuperCorp has moved it headquarters to Corporateville. However, the arguments presented by SuperCorp as have made the best decision suffers from various fallacies.

One of the reasons cited is the recent surge in number of homeowners. This doesn't necessarily correlate to Corporateville being a superior place to live than Middlesburg. Corporateville might be providing cheaper avenues in comparison to Middlesburg and this could be due to a lower standard of living afforded by Corporateville. Middlesburg may have a preference for rental system and hence home owing may not form a part of the culture of Middlesburg. Middlesburg could already have achieved a state of development where no further building of homes might be possible whereas Corporateville might be a newly built place. Information on the standard of living, cultural preference of the two places in regards to home owning, level of development can be used to reinforce the argument. Addendum : The word "surge" has to be quantified and put into some perspective. Was the surge in relation to previous years migration into Corporateville or was it in relation to Middlesburg. Middlesburg might be a smaller community than Corporateville which may have a lot of Multinational Companies hence the surge of homeowners.

Another reason referred is the employee survey results where its workers have said that they prefer to live in an area that is not urban. While Middleburg is defined to be predominantly urban area, it doesn't imply to it being totally urban. The status of Corporateville as being not urban hasn't been clarified. It may so happen that Corporateville is more urbanised than Middleburg. Further, none of the employee has registered that staying in Middleburg is a pain for them. The argument can be bolstered by presenting with information regarding the urbanisation of both places, whether employees have registered specific grievance against living in Middlesburg. Addendum : There might be more rustic areas around Middleburg than Corporateville where the employees might be living and hence there preference for places that are not rural. To add to it, Corporateville be an urbanised place.

While lower taxes may make Corporateville to be a cheaper place but that doesn't mean it is a safer place. Safety and lower taxes have no relation whatsoever. Lower taxes also doesn't amount to much if there are no facilities and amenities that are extended by the city administration. Middleburg is charging heavier tax but provide better amenities and facilities. This assumption might be strenghtened by clarifying if the facilities extended are at par with Middleburg and providing concrete statistical data regarding crime rates of both places.

In conclusion, SuperCorp may have made the decision only after going through rigorous procedures and studies regarding shifting of its headquarters. However, the arguments offered by SuperCorp appears to be based upon unwarranted assumptions. SuperCorp may strengthen its position in the argument by working on the dropbacks that its arguments suffers from.
