WHAT IS A GAMESCAPE?

GameScapes combine visual storytelling with game-based learning elements to stimulate curiosity and

STUDIO MAP – The Studio Map provides the central module navigation. Students must successfully complete assignments within a department in order to

unlock subsequent assignments and complete the module.

RESPONDERS - Responders are interactive elements that allow learners to “speak” to characters and answer questions.

SCORE INDICATOR – The Score Indicator (displayed upper left) is a dynamic, numeric display that shows total points earned and functions as the primary

indicator of the learner’s performance in the module. CURRENT SCORE represents the total points accumulated across all activities. TASK SCORE

represents student score for the current activity.

VIRTUAL MENTORS – Virtual mentors provide feedback and remediation in order to scaffold the learning process.

VIRTUAL INTERNSHIPS – This GameScape provides learners a news channel “virtual internship”. At the end of the modules, students see a broadcast that

incorporates the writing examples they’ve worked on. These authentic experiences provide a safe, virtual environment to learn and practice real world skills.
