IV - UNIVERSITY ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS (FRESHMEN- SOPHOMORE
LEBANESE BACCALAUREATE II- SOPHOMORE FRENCH BACCALAUREATE)
Freshman Applicants to Freshman Class should:
Hold a secondary school certificate based on 12 years of schooling, starting with Grade One. This certificate must be awarded by government or private schools and recognized by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and by the University.
Obtain “permission” from the Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Education allowing them to pursue their higher education on the basis of a foreign program.
Take, prior to their admission, SAT. Take, either prior to their admission or during their Freshman year, SAT Subject Tests as follows: - Students who choose the sciences track should take:
Mathematics II (obligatory) plus two tests chosen from Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. - Students who choose the arts track should take:
Mathematics I (obligatory) plus any two tests. To be eligible for promotion to Sophomore Class the applicant should obtain a minimum cumulative total score (SAT + SAT Subject Tests) of:
Sophomore Students can apply for admission to the sophomore class at UOB if they hold a Lebanese Baccalaureate or its equivalence, i.e., French Baccalaureate, Syrian Baccalaureate, Jordanian Tawjihi, German Abitur, Official government secondary school leaving Certificate, or Full IB Diploma. Holders of General Certificate of Education (GCE) and General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) who completed at least 6 subjects Ordinary level (6 O-Level courses) and 3 A-Level subjects (or equivalent; whereby 1 A-Level = 2 AS-Level courses), may also apply for admission to the sophomore class at UOB. V- ENTRANCE EXAMS AND PASSING GRADES FOR DIFFERENT MAJORS.
Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Due to COVID-19, UOB decided to waive SAT for admission for Spring 20-21 and Fall 21-22. Students will be evaluated based on their High School grades and Language Aptitude Tests.
SAT score will only be considered for Merit Scholarships (early acceptance) evaluation. Also, the Writing & Language test of the SAT will also be considered as a proof of English placement test.
Students are urged to contact the nearest testing center for more details on SAT. When registering for SAT, applicants to the University of Balamand should enter the UOB code 2960, and ask the Educational Testing Service to send the scores directly to the Office of Admissions & Registration.
Language Proficiency Requirements English Language Requirement Prior to registration at the University, students admitted to UOB must demonstrate a level of English proficiency consistent with the demands of a program carried on almost exclusively in the English language. This may be done in any one of the following ways:

Applicants, who have been selected for admissions but have not met the English Language proficiency
requirements, shall successfully complete the intensive course(s).
French Language Requirement (French majors or majors taught in French): Candidates must demonstrate a level of French language proficiency consistent with the requirements of their program of study. To ascertain this proficiency, the candidate must pass the French Entrance Exam (Test de Positionnement). The Undergraduate and graduate students who hold a DELF/DALF with a degree level B2 (scoring at least 50/100 and 15/25 on the writing component (production écrit)) or C1 will be admitted as FREN 201. Applicants who hold a DELF/DALF with a degree level B1 will be admitted as FREN102, they must complete successfully FREN102 within the first semester of enrollment at the University. IV- WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF EARLY ADMISSIONS?
Here are benefits of Early Admissions:
- Satisfaction - knowing that have already been accepted at a University way ahead of time.
- More Time To Decide – Early Admissions means that the applicant has an ample amount of time
to decide to enroll.
- Evaluate your options - especially financial assistance (early admission scholarships, Financial
Aid, student work….). You can also evaluate different programs offered by the faculties.
Early Admission To qualify for the early admission, students must fulfill the following:
• Submission of the applications by December 22, 2020. • Rank in the top 40% in each of the last two years of schooling prior to application (G10 & 11). • SAT scores (last session is that of December) as follows:

SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID UPON ADMISSION
Scholarships upon admission are given based on various factors including rank in the Lebanese Baccalaureate official exam, and SAT score with school grades (Early Admission Merit
Scholarship).
A new student who wishes to apply for Financial Aid Upon Admission must fill an online Financial Aid Application.
Financial Aid: Up to 40%.
Apply as early as possible before July 31, 2021(We encourage the applicants to apply for
financial aid when they apply for admission)

To be eligible for financial aid, an undergraduate student:
- Must be accepted or enrolled at UOB on a full time basis. An undergraduate student is considered a full-time student if taking 12 credits and above during the Fall and Spring semester, 6 credits during the Summer semester of an academic year.
- Must demonstrate financial need. - Must be in good academic record (minimum cumulative average of 70/100).
