Overview: Island Mountain Arts Society is a non-profit organization based in Wells, BC. We provide emerging and professional arts training, operate a public art gallery and gift shop, and deliver an ongoing series of cultural events including the ArtsWells Festival of All Things Art. We are seeking creative and motivated individuals to fill the following positions: Summer Program Liaison Hourly Wage Rate $13.50/hr (35 hours per week) Employment period: May 7 to August 24, 2018 (negotiable and contingent on funding) The Summer Program Liaison will co-ordinate all aspects of the Island Mountain Arts Annual Summer School of the Arts course registrations, including processing payments, creating welcome packages and providing accommodation and travel information on the community of Wells. They will assist in managing the summer school facility: prepare classrooms, assist with the school canteen, work with instructors and students to ensure a positive experience. They will assist with co-coordinating welcome receptions and other summer school events in addition to the delivery of Artswells festival workshops and related special events. The candidate will liaise with artisans & manage gift shop customer service, daily cash transactions and maintain tidiness in the gallery. They will assist in the preparation of exhibition posters, press releases and promotional mailings. They will greet and provide information and assistance to gallery and gift shop customers as well as volunteers and festival goers. They will be comfortable in assisting with all aspects of daily office duties such as answering phones, emails, filing, photocopying, etc., and other duties as assigned. Necessary Qualifications: - Full-time returning student in a field related to the position (e.g. fine arts, business, arts administration, marketing, media studies) - Interest and/or skills in the performing arts, fine arts and education - Excellent interpersonal skills - Excellent communication skills: written and verbal, fluent in English - Proven computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, data entry - Able to work independently and as part of a team

marketing, media studies)- Interest and/or skills in the performing arts, fine arts and education- Excellent interpersonal skills- Excellent communication skills: written and verbal, fluent in English- Proven computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, data entry- Able to work independently and as part of a team- Attention to detail, thorough, conscientious, creative and with a sense of humour- Comfortable working in high-intensity situations and making sound decisions on the fly- Willingness to live and work in a small town, rural environment- A passion or interest in the outdoors & a valid BC Driver’s License are assets- Is between 16 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;- Was registered as a full time student during the preceding academic year;- Intends to return to school on a full time basis during the next academic year;- Is a student in a post-secondary, vocational or technical program;- Is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under

the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and;- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations (Unfortunately,

foreign students are not eligible).

Characteristics of the town: Wells, situated two hours south-east of Prince George and one-hour east of Quesnel, is located 8km from Barkerville, one of Canada's largest historic sites, and a short drive from the Bowron Lake chain, a world renowned paddling destination. Though winter population in Wells hovers around 250, the population nearly doubles in summer. A culturally vibrant community located in the mountains, Wells provides endless activities for those with a passion for culture, history and the outdoors. The Island Mountain Arts office is located in the heart of Wells and houses our public gallery on the top floor, and our offices on the bottom floor. Summer students will interact extensively with local and regional community, working with the District of Wells, Barkerville Historic Town and other cultural venues, as well as local accommodations, restaurants, wilderness guides and other business.
