CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations on successfully completing your initial teacher education course. As University of Brighton ITE Partnership graduates, we know you have fully engaged in stimulating, varied and challenging courses of study, enabling you to meet all of the Teachers’ Standards. Through concerted effort and dedication, you have developed and honed your skills and knowledge, built resilience and gained valuable experiences that mean you are well prepared for this next challenge. The following guidance answers key questions about your next steps and explains how we will continue to support you through the next phase of your teaching career. CONFIRMATION OF DEGREE & QUALIFIED TEACHER STATUS Once exam boards confirm you have successfully completed all parts of your course, we recommend you for the award of QTS. Following this you will be able to access and obtain your QTS Certificate by logging into the Teacher Self-Service Portal: https://teacherservices.education. gov.uk/SelfService/Login We will also invite you to a graduation ceremony where we will present you with your university degree certificate. Please inform us of your employment details so we can update our records and keep in touch about events and opportunities. THE CAREER ENTRY PLAN (CEP) All trainees in our ITE Partnership complete a Career Entry Plan (CEP). The CEP is stored on your e-Portfolio and it is a vital element of your transition to the NQT year. The CEP supports the transition to your first position by communicating your achievements, strengths, areas for development and the proposed actions that will enable you to become an outstanding practitioner. Your employing school will be waiting for you to share the completed CEP to inform your NQT support programme. NQT INDUCTION The induction period is normally one year. Your employing school will assign you an induction mentor who will explain specific activities and opportunities that are available either in your school or within a larger body such as your academy trust or local authority, to support your development during the NQT year.

During your induction period, you will engage in a support programme that includes the opportunity to observe experienced colleagues and learn from informal and formal observations of your own practice. Further guidance on NQT induction, including assessment procedures and what happens if you are on a fixed term contract of less than one year, can be found at: www.gov.uk/government/publications/induction-for-newly-qualified-teachers-nqts

Our support continues beyond the NQT year – look out for details of our RQT conference, open to all those in the first stages of their teaching careers.

Our MA Education course has been developed based on consultation with local practitioners and senior leaders to support professional development and expertise. Alumni are supported through a 10% discount on fees and those with Masters (level 7) credits can use these to contribute towards the award.
