    Congratulations to UHA’s KYA team! A group of five students attended the KYA As-

  • The National Honor Society inducted its new members in a ceremony held in December. Students in grades 10-12 are

    required to have a 3.5 GPA or better in order to qualify for membership. After receiving their pins and certificates, stu-

    dents pledged to uphold the NHS ideals of Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service. They were honored at a

    luncheon later that day. New members include: Sam Wilkins, RaAnna Tucker, Jacquise Smith, Amber Powell, Maken-

    zie Miles, Logan Kirkman, Jonathan Kinnard, Sherafghan Khan, Damon Key, Jack Hancock, Garrett Gee, Gianna Fis-

    cella, Samantha Eaton, Anna Eaton, Virginia Cincotti, Eleonora Cincotti.

    In December, University Heights Academy hosted and participated in the Kentucky Colonels Sixth Grade Show-

    case. Out of seven schools in Region #5, UHA ranked 1st place in the overall competition and in Quick Recall.

    Individual awards included:

    Rohan Desai, 1st place in Math and Science

    Zohaib Iqbal, 2nd place in Science

    Elvin Wagner, 2nd place in Social Studies

    Beth Peebles, 4th place in Language Arts and Social Studies

  • University Heights Academy’s middle school academic team competed in the

    District Governor’s Cup at Muhlenberg South Middle School on Saturday,

    January 17. They placed 1st overall. These are the individual results for UHA:

    Language Arts—Kevli Sheth 1st, Gabriella Lynn 2nd, and Lauren Shaner 4th

    In January, UHA varsity academic team hosted and competed in the 7th District Governor’s

    Cup competition. UHA placed second overall in the competition. Individuals placing in writ-

    ten assessments were:

    Science: Sherafghan Khan 1st, Blake Edmonson 3rd, Sangeet Sheth 4th

    Language Arts: Sangeet Sheth 2nd and Bailey Morales 5th

    Arts/Humanities: Christian Barefield 2nd and Garrett Gee 4th

    Math: Sherafghan Khan 4th and Blake Edmonson 5th

    Composition: Winter Nicholson 4th and Hannah Shemwell 5th

    Quick Recall Team: Sangeet Sheth, Blake Edmonson, Christopher Pape, Christian Barefield,

    Mr. and Mrs. Blazer is an award that is chosen by the

    faculty and staff to honor those students that exemplify

    the best of UHA. Mr. & Miss Blazer is for seniors only.

    Our 2015 Mr. & Miss Blazer are Matt Armstrong and

    Carson Bryant. Congratulations!

    Junior Mr. and Miss Blazer is also chosen by faculty

    and staff and is for eighth graders only. Our 2015

    Junior Mr. & Miss Blazer are Drew McGowan and

    Sabrina Hall. Congratulations!

    UHA Wrestler Gets a Win Senior Daniel Dyess recently placed first in his

    weight class at wrestling tournament held in

    Callaway County.

    UHA Junior Named Volleyball Athlete of the Year

    Isabella Norrid, a junior at UHA, has been named the Southern

    Pennyrile Volleyball Athlete of the year. At 5’3”, Norrid plays the

    position of libero for the team and helped the Blazers have an un-

    precedented season. Congratulations to Norrid, the volleyball

    team, and Coach Faye Hendricks.

    UHA Wrestlers State Bound The UHA wrestling team recently competed in their

    regional tournament. State qualifiers in their weight

    class were:

  • UHA senior Jacob Stevens has signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Lincoln Trail College. Lin-

    coln Trail is a Junior College located in Robinson, IL. Stevens hopes to play two years with Lincoln Trail and then

    transfer to a Division I college. Since 1994, 25 ball players from Lincoln Trail have gone on to play professionally.

    Stevens signed his letter in front of his Blazer

    peers, family members, and former coaches.

    Stevens is focusing on his upcoming senior

    season with UHA and then looking forward to

    playing baseball at the collegiate level. Con-

    gratulations Jacob!
