How was learning from this course/workshop assessed?
The workshop seeks to raise students' awareness and obtain tools that allow them to generate innovative initiatives aimed at solving social problems in a responsible and sustainable manner.The students defend their project before an evaluation committee, where specific criteria are assessed. This workshop focuses primarily on the development of the idea. We are looking for a venture to have social impact.

The objective of the initiative #SoyUVemprendedor (IamUVentrepreneur) is to promote and foster sustainability in vulnerable communities in Veracruz. By fostering the figure of the Social Entrepreneur as an agent of change and promoter of innovative solutions, the program seeks to solve various social problemas in the students’ environments through human development, responding to the needs of the population with actions carried out by talented university students.
Whats’s involved?
A series of training sessions the students aims to make them aware and develop skills that will enable them to generate innovative initiatives that focus on solving social problems in a responsible and sustainable way. The workshops are called Balloon Camp UV, which are adapted from the Balloon Camp training in Chile. The fellows (Facilitators) that give the courses received training in Chile so that they could replicate the model in their countries of origin.

The winners must committ to the following over a six month period:
1. Commence their project accompanied by an academic tutor and a business mentor.
2. Correctly justify and report use of the seed funding.
3. Assist with follow up assessments.
4. Document each stage over the six month period, with reports, photographs and videos. 5. Make a video on your project.
On successful conclusion of the workshop the participants have the opportunity to compete for seed funding to commence their project. To avail of this funding they must present a draft project and defend it before an evaluation committee, using the elevator pitch technique.
Training was received by:
26 students. Veracruz Region
32 students. Xalapa Region
4 winning projects were selected for seed funding.

In 2015, we plan to hold Balloon Camps of a longer durantion in the communities of Atlahuilco and Coyopolan (Communities where UV Houses are established) with the aim that the students who receive training will provide support and mentorship for entrepreneurs in the communities, just as the original Balloon Camp model is designed.
