Dear Friends ~

It is with great pleasure that we present this Community Report. It offers a brief overview of the hard work and dedication that have sustained this United Way since 1928 and the fortitude and

conviction with which we persevere each and every day.

To say times and the economy are challenging is an understatement and comes as no surprise to

anyone. We as a staff continue to “fight the good fight” and embrace new opportunities to make

our community stronger.

To that end, we expand our community outreach ~ in addition to providing the funds to meet ever

-growing need, our United Way strengthens the community in a number of other ways including: NALC Food Drive – 8.4 tons collected $16,800, FamilyWize Prescriptions - $9,583 Given through our communi-

ty, Day of Caring $640 free labor for projects in our community, Easter Dinner – 600 + meals $6,000, Junior

Leadership - $3,000 returned to youth programs, Start Smart School Supplies - $5,000, Agency Assistance with Grants and Funds $25,000, Community Christmas Dinner – 800 + Meals and Gifts - $10,000, Child Advocacy -

$5,000 Child Abuse Prevention Education, Staff Volunteer Hours - $9,020.97 – Combined hours at minimum wage, PA United Way Advocacy (State Level) .

We have a strong commitment to Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program which allows our United Way to provide scholarship assistance for Pre-Kindergarten programs to in-

come eligible families.

Together with our staff, our board and community members we continue to re-evaluate and ex-

pand our services to proactively address the needs while responsibly providing responsible guardianship of the donors support.

I thank you for your continued support and behalf of myself, our staff, and our board ~ thank you for helping us lighten the burdens of our community.

Respectfully,

Pat Ward Terry Moran Bauder President & CEO Chair, Board of Directors
