THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

•Thomas Jefferson, 1743 – 1826, wrote a rough draft. The third

president of United States

•July 2 – Congress in Philadelphia, resolution explains

independence of the colonies

•July 4 – the Declaration of independence became finished. The

handwritten copy was signed by 56 delegates

•Founding Fathers of the United States – political leaders that

signed the Declaration of Independence. For example George

Washington, Benjamin Franklin and John Adams

STRUCTURE

•First sentence – clarify that a independence must be reasonable

•Second section – introduction, principles of the delaration,

”right of revolution”

•Third section – charges against King George III

•Fourth section – Americans felt kinship with the Brithish people

but are dissapointet about attempts had been unsuccessful

•Final section – by necessity throw off political ties, become

independent states
