Evaluations of changes in land cover for land management and the development of public policies
in Ecuador
• The Ecuadorian government is investing in thegeneration of multipurpose information that will helpto identify the different problems in the territory andpropose public policies that lead to improve the qualityof life for all its citizens.
• The earth observation using satellite images, hasallowed a quick update of the maps of land cover andland use.
• Thanks to this work, has also been possible todemonstrate latent problems, for which public policiesare being implemented as you can see in the followingexamples.

Redistribution of responsibilities in the management of water resources for human consumption and irrigation
The National Water Secretary assume responsibility for water management in areas where the State have megaprojects, until it reaches the consumer.
Coordinating with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Aquaculture and with the autonomous governments (Municipalities).
