Chris Tomlin wrote the song “How Great is Our God” and the lyrics are:
The splendor of the King, clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice
He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see.
How great, How great is our God! He asked the question. How great is our God? It is a great question, one I don’t think we will
ever completely delve the depths.
In Isaiah 40:12 we read: “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand,
Or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?
Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket,
Or weighed the mountains on the scales
And the hills in a balance?” And in Isaiah 48:12, 13 we read: “Listen to me, O Jacob, Israel, whom I have called:
I am he; I am the first and I am the last.
My own hand laid the foundations of the earth,
And my right hand spread out the heavens;
When I summon them, they all stand up together.”
And in a verse all know Genesis 1:1 we read:
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
How big is that which we call the heaven? Picture the distance from earth to sun (93 million
miles) as the thickness of one piece of paper. The distance to the nearest star (4-1/2 light-years)
would be a 71-foot high stack of paper. And the diameter of our own galaxy (100,000 light-years)
is a 310-mile stack of paper, while the edge of the known universe is a pile of paper one-third of
the way to the sun (31 million miles). And yet again God says in Isaiah: “My right hand spread
out the heavens.” Truly HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD?

I have mentioned prior that I watched movies about people being put into other peoples' shoes and lives. I
also enjoy watching time travel movies like "Back to the Future" and TV shows like "Quantum Leap",
"Journeyman" and currently "Timeless." There is something appealing to me about going back and doing it
again or fixing bad times / bad decisions in one's life or to be spared pain, or to use knowledge gained in suc-
ceeding years to better take advantage of circumstances and resources back then. There are certainly things I
would love to erase, but it isn't possible. God's blood can cover those things and throw the sins into depths of
the sea into what has been called "the sea of Forgetfulness," but the effects and memories can live on. Also
in watching shows, one can see now one thing changed in the past can have dramatic effects in the
future (good or bad). I have to wonder how taking away those things would change me (or any of us) today.
One day off, I saw a Facebook post from a Canadian friend whom I have probably known for close to 17
years. She found out several years ago that she has Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease. Her post
reminded me of a song I had heard some years back. The song talks about what we might have missed in life
if we had had our way. We would likely choose the easy, mountain-top experiences because they were calm,
easy, fun, glorious etc. but miss out on some of the growth and exercise / strengthening of faith that can
result by the trials. I want to share a part of the lyrics below:
"If I'd had my way about it, I'd have danced in grassy fields and fragrant meadows.
Then risen in the morning just to hear the robin's lovely melody.
I 'd have rested in wide spaces, high above the hurting places, found a cross that asks much less of me.
Never sailed in raging wind or troubled sea, if You'd thought it best to leave it up to me.
But if I'd had my way, I might have been wading through the river when You wanted me to walk upon the sea.
And if I'd had my say, all of my wants and whims and wishes You knew how weak, how shallow I would be.
I trust Your wisdom over mine, I know You've proven over time that in my narrow way of seeing things,
I leave the best behind sometimes. I might not have stayed as close if I'd had my way." - Janet Paschal ©1994
I once heard Roger Bennett (who got cancer in his late thirties) talk about how cancer messed up his perfect
world, but in spite of all the bad times it brought, called it the best season of his life. He stated that he found
grace of God in a way he hadn't known existed and strength he hadn't had. He said, "I wouldn't trade it. If
they said, 'Roger, we'll take away the cancer, but you gotta give up your walk with Jesus that you've gained,'
I'd keep the cancer."
Below are links to the videos of his testimony and the song “Don’t Be Afraid” which he had written before
his cancer, not knowing it would minister to him after he got the cancer. In a related note, God used another
song he had written (I believe started before the discovery of his cancer, but finished during) to minister to
me in dark times during mine. I had the song at home and the track and demo on my computer at work (I
have had the choir sing it before). The song is called "Healing", and I believe God had WYGS play that song
when I was struggling and pulling into McDonald's to get supper to speak to me. Roger was and still is an
inspiration to me. He was a great pianist, wrote some great songs, had a great testimony, and yet could go
from serious to hilarious and back to serious. I truly miss him.

As many of you know Chuck Dilsizian has been in the hospital / nursing home for many months. I had told
him that I believe God will use him in this (perhaps a visiting ministry) due to the struggles he has had. He
has also seen other miracles come from this difficult journey he has been on. It certainly has been difficult at
times, but I believe he will come to see many ways God used it for good even though days have been dark at
times. God also has a way (in my opinion) of allowing such things so we can minister to others in the same
battles who come after us. He has done it for Roger and many of us. I know that is hard to see during the
struggles and sometimes we might not fully see it even after, but God has a way of doing just that.

Happy Mother’s Day!!Happy Mother’s Day!!Happy Mother’s Day!!Happy Mother’s Day!!
Have you ever wondered what would have happened if all those things Mom
told you had really come true? For example … how many times did you hear “I could just squeeze you to
death!!!”? Assuming Mom was squeezing me ’cuz she loved me. I doubt she’d
really want me dead-at least most of the time.
Of course, we’ve all heard Mom threaten to smother us with kisses. Or “If you don’t behave, I’m going to whoop the snot out of you!” This mouse would probably have the
cleanest nose in the county!! Sometimes Moms say stuff they really don’t mean … but I know one thing Mom could say that I knew she
meant…
“I LOVE YOU!” “I LOVE YOU!” “I LOVE YOU!” “I LOVE YOU!” Isn’t it wonderful that we can laugh about some of the silly stuff Mom might have said that we know she
really didn’t mean … but that we can remember the times that she spoke those three little words and
meant each word every time. And how wonderful that Jesus demonstrated just how much He loved us when He opened His arms to
die for us on Calvary. One day, when we meet Him face to face, we can kneel before Him in honor to say
“I LOVE YOU, JESUS!”“I LOVE YOU, JESUS!”“I LOVE YOU, JESUS!”“I LOVE YOU, JESUS!” If you can … tell your Mom just how much you love her … even if you tell her that “You love her to
pieces!!” Till next month…… Timothy
We who are left, how shall we look again
Happily on the sun or feel the rain
Without remembering how they went
Ungrudgingly and spent
Their lives for us loved, too, the sun and
rain?
