1st MARIKINA VALLEY BOARD MEETING

The Marvalley Board of Officers 1st Board Meeting held last June 24, 2016 T 6:30 pm in Kainan Sa Bahay Bahayan, Sumulong, Antipolo. Attendees were Chapter Pres. Arch. Philip John S. Padilla, Grace Anne R. Tamesis, Lleda T. Daquiuag, Jernel B. Bagares, Ranier L. Biglang-Awa, Jasmin Grace P. Lee, Cezar R. Dizon, Jr., Virgilio M. Balderosa, Anthony M. Rivera, Rodelo A. Vargas and Leo B. Carlos. The agenda taken up were the 1st Membership Meeting schedule for July 4, 2016, District A5 Joint Induction of Chapter New Officers, Courtesy Call to Marikina Mayor, Vice Mayor, and City Councilor, designation of committees and other matters.

1ST GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING – JULY 4, 2016

The United Architects of the Philippines Marvalley Chapter with its current theme "Go Team Marvalley" which stands for "Globally Oriented and Technically Equipped Architects of the new Millennium," under the new term of Ar. Philip John S. Padilla, UAP (Chapter President) held its First General Membership Meeting (GMM) @ Cafe Lidia Restaurant, San Roque, Marikina City.

Started with an invocation prayer by Ar. Rodelo Vargas, the meeting was formally called to order. After the two (2) sponsors (Pioneer and ABC Sunrise World Dev't., Corp.) have presented their quality products, Business proper for the architects immediately followed. New set of officers and members of the board were introduced. The

discussion covered different activities, programs, and events to be held within this fiscal year and encouraged each one of us to participate and support for the success of our Chapter. GO TEAM MARVALLEY!






2nd BOARD OF OFFICERS MEETING

The UAP Marvalley Chapter 2nd Board Meeting held last July 22, 2016 at 7:00 pm in Lady Lynn Grilled and Seafood Restaurant, 76 Gil Fernando Street, Brgy. San Roque, Marikina City. Agenda discussed was the the forthcoming 2nd General Membership Meeting on August 1, 2016, Courtesy Call with Marikina City Mayor, Vice Mayor, and City Councilor, Book Donation, and the coming Chapter 31st Anniversary. Attendees were Pres. Philip John S. Padilla, Grace Anne R. Tamesis, Lleda T. Daquiuag, Loreta Cruz Villame, Jernel B. Bagares, Ranier L. Biglang-Awa, Ranelle T. Dela Paz, Cezar R. Dizon Jr., Anthony M. Rivera, Virgilio M. Balderosa, Rodelo A. Vargas and Leo B. Carlos.

The UAP Marvalley Board of Officers visited Marikina City Mayor Marcelino R. Teodoro’s office at the Marikina City Hall last July 29, 2016. The following items were discussed: 1. Comment on the On-going draft for the Comprehensive Land Use Plan of Marikina City to be coordinated with Chairman of Council – Councilor Donn Carlo B. Favis; 2. Seek council and endorsement for the approval of the Architecture Permit for Marikina City as part of the enforcement of the RA 9266 or the Architecture Act of 2004 in the city. During the discussion, the Mayor expressed support for the architecture act and pledged to sponsor an ordinance to reinforce the implementation of the said law. Last year a draft was submitted to the City Ordinance Council. Marikina Valley Chapter was advised to make new endorsement and submit through the Mayor’s Office; 3. The mayor encourage the Chapter to contribute to the aesthetic, design, and planning of the whole Marikina City

The Marvalley Board of Officers visited the Vice Mayor’s office in the newly constructed Legislative Building of Marikina last 29 July 2016. The chapter pledged support for the projects of the Vice Mayor’s Office. During the discussion, the chapter programs for the fiscal year were presented, such as The Annual Book Donation, Tree Planting, Medical Mission to name a few. Vice mayor Cadiz encouraged UAP Marikina Valley’s partnership with the City Government for a possible joint project. A proposed bench project depicting the shoe industry inspired design will be installed in Marikina City’s parks and plazas and mini jeepney’s with access for Person’s with Disability was brought to the table for an initial idea. The chapter was endorsed to the city engineering office to coordinate and explore its possibilities. Both parties agreed that this will be a good way to help the city with its outdated benches and at the same time restore the image of the city’s shoe industry. Also discussed was the implementation of the RA 9266 or the Architecture Act of 2004 in

the city. During the discussion, Vice Mayor Cadiz, expressed support for the architecture act and pledged to sponsor an ordinance to reinforce the implementation of the said law.

9th GMM (2015-2016) & TURNOVER RIGHTS TO THE NEW BOARD MEMBERS FY 2016-2017

The UAP Marikina Valley Chapter held its 9th General Membership meeting at the Mozaicco Showroom along Bagumbayan Libis, Quezon City last June 6, 2016. This meeting was a very important occasion because it was also the turnover rites wherein the Chapter’s gravel and hammer was formally turned over to the new Chapter President Ar. Phillip John Padilla. To start the affair, we first all had dinner then Ar. Loreta Cruz

let the invocation before proceeding to the main program. As a usual routine, we had the National Anthem, UAP March and Architect’s Credo sung and recited. We only had one sponsor that night and that was Crown Pipes. After awarding the sponsor with a Certificate of Recognition we proceeded to the Business proper. Outgoing Chapter President Ar. Leo B. Carlos gave his farewell speech thanking the Chapter for helping support his term. Certificates of Recognition were given to all the past officers, board members and Chapter members who helped handle certain Chapter activities and programs. The next part of the program was a message imparted to us by our outgoing UAP National President Ar. Ma. Benita O. Regala. It was Ar. Amado E. Tandoc Jr. who did the introductions. Ar. Regala briefly discussed what the UAP National was able to accomplish during her term and also thanked our members for making her term memorable. The gravel and bell was turned over to Ar. PJ Padilla by Ar. Leo B. Carlos while our National Vice President for Area A, Ar. Robert Benedict C. Hermoso dictated what should be done during such a ritual. After this moment, the incoming Chapter President Ar. PJ Padilla gave his acceptance speech and proceeded to announce his new officers and Board of Directors for the FY 2016-2017. As a finale, we called out all the June birthday celebrators and then had the usual group picture taking. Another fiscal year has passed so now enters a new group. Hopefully, we pray that more Chapter members will get involved in our programs and activities because it is also for the good of the Chapter and its members.
