Use original Daft Punk Text,This text is well known for them, therefore people know who it is.

Background to be dark, therefore making the font stand out.

Bright neon colours, bringing out the ‘Electro’ style For my fist idea I

want to stick to the theme Daft Punk seem to have. This will be a good selling pointDue to the fact fans would recognise it and knew how good the previous album was.

DIGI PACK #1

The albums artwork and style maybe seen as quite redundant in the dance/house genre because many bands and duos have these kind of styles because it fits with their music.

Use lyrics and interviews for the 8 page booklet.

#2

Create my own font, using the main aspects from the original

Use already taken photos of the pair and manipulate them ( of coarse with their helmets on)

Still use a dark background with bright neon colours to bring in and enhance the ‘techno’ style.

For this idea I want the album to still consist of the same colours, on the other hand this time I want to include photos of the pair, manipulating them myself, using photoshop.

Use lyrics and interviews for the 8 page booklet.

Justification.

Both of My ideas still have the consistent style of which Daft Punk go by, the dark backgrounds and neon colours. The main difference between the both is my second idea containing manipulated images of the pair and my first being more graphical, using patterns.I have chosen my second idea for my final outcome, reasons being that I am more than capable of using Photoshop, this being one of my strongest skills. Using photos that are already taken of the pair, I will use Photoshop to manipulate them. Furth more I will design my own font but stick to their original style. This will still attract the fans. Using bright neon colours like they have in their previous album will enhance the ‘techno/electro’ theme. Daft Punk have previously used photos of themselves, always wearing helmets, as this is what their persona is . I will use classic photos of them and manipulate them to make them more up to date, This leading to fans recognising the photos there for buying the album. I wanted to go for my second idea over my first due to my first being to similar to the last album they released, although I will still stick to the neon themed idea.

Mock up

• My idea consists of Daft Punks old and more relevant artwork. Using a dark background with neon colours. For my front cover I want to use an old photo, more of a classic, and manipulate it to put a more modern twist on it. Keeping the same style font Daft Punk use in previous album artwork and again maybe put a modern twist on it. Carrying on this style in to digi pack and 8 page booklet, using a dark background and neon colours. This will empathise the ‘techno/electro’ feel. Furth more using previous themes will attract old fans.

Analyse after feedback.

• I think I will keep my idea pretty much the same as my mock up. Although one thing I will change is the fact I don’t have the title of the album on the front cover, I will use a different style of font of which I used for the artists name. This bringing on the more current vibe into it.

Audience Research

Age?• Previous Albums have a wide range when

talking about their target audience, I would say 15-30 year olds take interest in their music. Due to Daft Punk being around for a good 15 years, their music can still spark interest in their original fans but also tie in the new ones.

Page 13: Unit4:CREATIVE MEDIA PRODUSTION MANAGMENT LO1

• Gender?

Electro/dance music appeals to both male and females, this including Daft Punk.Although Daft Punks image are a big part of their act, sex appeal doesn’t have much to do with it, this is because they always have Helmets on when performing or in public. As their helmets include lights and technology this can appeal to males, in the interest of computers and technology. Overall I don’t think Daft Punk have a specific target sex, they offer both sides to enjoy their music.

Page 14: Unit4:CREATIVE MEDIA PRODUSTION MANAGMENT LO1

Socio-economic

• Using the Socio-economic grouping system, I think Daft Punk appeal to most of the bands. I wouldn’t necessarily they targeted one in particular, I don’t believe they appeal to the higher band ( group A). The reason being that electro/dance music is not often associated with top bankers, lawyers and other highly salaried professionals. Daft Punks genre can appeal to both men and women what ever their work status. Using Daft Punks previous album covers, they use their name to stand out, using their own styled font, which most people would know who it was, they go for the basic.

Competitors

As shown on this website, Daft Punk have a range of competitors in their genre of music. Although Daft Punk are a well known band, they have come across many new artists who share the same fan base. Daft Punk have been around for many years therefore their fan base is on a larger scale then most, saying that many new artists have top the charts e.g. Skrillex and David Guetta. This being the case, Daft Punk have to come up with new and exciting material in order for their fan base to keep listening and supporting them.

Page 16: Unit4:CREATIVE MEDIA PRODUSTION MANAGMENT LO1

In order to promote their new single, and keep up with competitors they have advertised and ‘teased’ the listeners

‘The campaign for Daft Punk's forthcoming album Random Access Memories has been a master class in teasing. Unfolding like the various levels of a promotional campaign for a blockbuster film – including gigantic billboard posters, TV trailers and behind-the-scenes featurettes – it has repositioned the duo as an event band following 2005's disappointing (and low-selling) Human After All and 2010's underwhelming Tron soundtrack.’

Materials and skills

In order to complete my Digi pack I will have to use many photos that have already been taken/ drawn of Daft Punk. After collecting my photos I will have to manipulate them, in order to do this I will be using Photoshop cs5 (provided by the college). In order to make my covers to a top standard I will have to brush up on my Photoshop skills, to do this I will have to read up on the guide. I will also be collecting interviews and reviews of the internet to go inside my 8 page booklet. Once I've finished design my pages, I will then create a template for my digi pack, I will do this on Indesign. Saying that Indesign is not a program I am to familiar with, in order to make my final product to a professional standard I will have to learn how to use Indesign by doing my research and using the guide.

Production management requirements

• Time management is the most important thing I have to remember whilst doing this project. In previous projects I haven't handled my time well. There for I will have a set diary and try to stick to it.

Page 19: Unit4:CREATIVE MEDIA PRODUSTION MANAGMENT LO1

• Researching into product techniques I have found a website which contain digi packs (v http://www.discmakers.com/templates/Digipaks.asp) , although I wont be using them, it gives me a good idea on how they should look.

• For my lasers I have looked into a YouTube channel which shows me how to make neon lasers, layers and how to make my outcome to a professional standard.

Copyright

• Copy right is a huge issue with my product. I will be using photos and graphics which belong to others. In order for me to avoid any trouble I will quote where I have got them from, taking no credit. Although they will be clearly manipulated I will make it clear where the original is from.
