The College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) landed on the sixth
spot after garnering seven (7) gold medals, thirty (30) silver medals and thirty six (36) bronzemedals in the recently concluded 50
thAnnual Intramural Games at Central Luzon State
University (CLSU) sport venues held on September 5 to 7, 2013.
With modified medal system as the determinant of over-all standing, Unit VI ranked 6th
place after bagging a total of seven (7) gold medals from events ruled including Table TennisWomen Doubles (2), Karatedo Women (1), ___________ (2) and Chess Women (2). Also, thirty
(30) silver medals and thirty-six (36) bronze medals were provided through Unit VIs might.
During the first day of the event, Unit VI garnered 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 13bronze medals. During the second day, two (2) gold medals, nine (9) silver medals and eight (8)
bronze medals were added. Additional two (2) gold medals, eighteen (18) silver medals and
fifteen (15) bronze medals on the 3rd
day come from final matches left particularly on futsal men
and badminton.The eight colleges of CLSU battled for a total of 322 gold medals. Unit V (College of
Arts and Sciences), topping the gold medals haul with 82 out of the possible 322, was hailed this
years champion. Most of these 82 gold medals come from team events reigned particularly inball games such as basketball, futsal and volleyball. Last year, it was also Unit V who secured
the 49th
Annual Intramural Games championship title after garnering 77 gold medals, 65 silver
medals, and 27 bronze medals.Expected naman na ito na ang CAS ang mangungna, Institute of Sports, Physical
Education and Recreation (ISPEAR) director, Jay C. Santos said. Dominado ang CAS sa
ngayon dahil kay Aries Toledo, he further added. He also noted during the 2nd
day of the event
that CAS would need to win 2 ball games to finally secure the championship title.
Meanwhile, Unit II (College of Agriculture), who dominated in futsal, lawn tennis, sepaktakraw, and football, landed on the second spot with 63 gold medals, 46 silver medals, and 74
bronze medals. Unit III (College of Engineering), Unit I (College of Education), and Unit VII(College of Fisheries) got the third, fourth, and fifth places, with fifty (50), thirty (30), and
twenty four (24) gold medals, respectively.
With a very slim margin of only one medal, Unit VIII (College of Home Science and
Industry), the newest college of CLSU, came at eighth place after Unit VI (CBAA) and Unit IV(College of Veterinary Science and Medicine) who both gained seven (7) gold medals. Unit IV
was, however, declared the 7th
placer after having fifteen (15) silver medals and sixteen (16)
bronze medals.
The 50th
Annual Intramural Games mark the 3rd
time CLSU uses gold medal system after
shifting the official ranking system from weighted point system to gold medal system on 2011 asapproved by the University Sports Development Council (USDC). Both the knock out system
and round robin system were still respectively engaged for individual and team events.
