Telling About Activities
Time Concepts
To indicate tense (past, present, future) in ASL, use a time sign at the beginning of the sentence. LAST-WEEK CHICKEN I EAT PAST MONTH NEW CAR I BUY
Once a tense has been established, everything that follows is understood to be in that time frame until a new time is specified. LAST WEEK CHICKEN I ATE. BASKETBALL I PLAYED. BOYFRIEND I MET.
Time Concepts Continued
To refer to specific times, the general time sign for past, present, and future are combined with the signs for days, weeks, and months. Last month: PAST + MONTH This month: THIS + MONTH In two weeks: 2-WEEK+FUTURE
