About• The history of science fiction films parallels that of the motion

picture industry as a whole, although it took several decades before the genre was taken seriously. Since the 1960s, major science fiction films have succeeded in pulling in large audience shares, and films of this genre have become a regular staple of the film industry. Science fiction films have led the way in special effects technology.

• The era of manned trips to the Moon saw a resurgence of interest in the science fiction film in the 1970s. Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, both released in 1977, contained a mystical element reminiscent of 2001: A Space Odyssey

About the product• Star Wars (later retitled Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope) is

the first of a trilogy of films written and directed by George Lucas

• The original trilogy consists of A New Hope (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983)

• The plot focuses on the Rebel Alliance, led by Princess Leia (Fisher), and its attempt to destroy the Galactic Empire's space station, the Death Star.

• The Star Wars prequel trilogy (Episodes I, II and III) was released between 1999 and 2005

• There are also a lot of books written about what happens before and after the stories of the films

Star Wars Games• There has been many games made based on the star wars

movie series and brand. Many of these have different stories for example you can play through the story of star wars episode 3 in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. There is also many games that do not follow the main stories of the movie series, eg The Force Unleashed series.

Games for kids• There are even star wars games made for kids, like the Lego

Star Wars series and Angry Birds Star Wars. These games are usually targeted towards children but many fans of the franchise still play them.
