2.2.2 State requirements for active membership in national FCCLA

Any student who is taking or has taken a course in family and consumer sciences through grade 12 shall be eligible for active membership in an organized chapter within the school. Active members shall be eligible to hold

office, make motions and vote.Pay dues.

June 11, 1945-Future Homemakers of America was a white girls youth organization founded in Chicago.

Dues were 10 cents.

Oct. 17, 1946 – Arkansas FHA chapter chartered as 37th State AssociationJuly 1965-New Homemakers of

America was the black girl’s organization that merged with Future Homemakers of America

May 1971-HERO (Home Economics Related Occupations) chapters were added

Oct. 1994 – Home Economics

changed to Family and Consumer
