Columbian Exchange

◼Prior to the weekend, we began to discuss the effects of the Columbian Exchange.

◼We are going to wrap up the discussion on the exchange and go over the tribes that would have encountered Columbus and the early settlers of North America.

Native American Tribes

◼What tribes did the early settlers encounter?

◼How did these tribes differ?◼How could the geography of their

territory affect the way they lived?◼How will the tribes and settlers

change the other?

Native American Webquest◼Working with a partner or by

yourself, and using the website, http://access.sd25.org/curriculum/NativeAmericans/index.html, we will determine the cultural differences amongst the tribes that the early colonial settlers would have encountered. We will also make connections about how geography can affect the way one lives, and how each group will affect one another.

In LibraryMrs. Twigg will be teaching students how to use APA formatting for citing their sources. This was decided after speaking to the high school and finding out APA is used for most subjects. Will refresh students on the quick way to cite sources using bibme.org as well. Students will begin their projects in the media center by checking out books to use.
