In this PowerPoint I will and talk about some of the different art styles and game genres. I will also show some images to show my evidence

Photorealism

Photorealism is a genre of art that encompasses painting, drawing and other graphic mediums, in which an artist studies a photograph and then attempts to reproduce the image as realistically as possible in another medium.

Call of Duty

Call of duty uses the photorealistic feature as you can see the maps looks real and the guns are made to look exactly the same as in real life.

Photorealism makes the video game look more real which is more interesting for the players.

The game has real features for example if you get shot your injured but when your blood low when you’ve been shot if you get shot again you die.

Grand Theft Auto Grand theft auto uses photo realistic features. The characters look real the guns and cars look real and the city looks like a real city not something that’s created on a computer.

Grand theft auto is set in a city that is supposed to be a replica of LA. The photorealistic features are used here to make the city look real.

The game created real features for example if you commit a crime the police will be after you. This happens in real life which makes the game player feel the game more because its more realistic.

Fifa

Fifa uses photorealistic features which makes the game see more real. Fifa does this by creating players look exactly as they do in real. The game also created the same team kits and boots players use. Fifa also uses real life

stadiums to make the game more real. For example the Emirates stadium etc.

The game has football association rules for example offside which makes the game realer.

Abstract

relating to art that does not attempt to represent external reality, but rather seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, colours, and textures.

Geometry warsGeometry wars is and abstract game style because as you can see it doesn’t relate to anything real in life.

Abstract game styles make the games look more computer based or something you would play in a arcade.

The game uses geometric shapes to look like objects.

The objects in the game look earth based for example the trees but we cant really tell what is going on or what they are.

The game is relaxing and chilled because there is no fighting or anything competitive going on. The colours also fit in with relaxing tone.

Cel-shaded

a type of non-photorealistic rendering designed to make 3-D computer graphics appear to be flat by using less shading color instead of a shade gradient or tints and shades.

Dragon bull z uses cell-shaded features, the characters are computer graphically designed.

The characters have non human powers for example jumping to the sky or throwing energy balls.

The game uses cell-shaded features, the game setting/the maps are not real just open spaces where they can fight not a specific place or city.

Borderlands

Borderlands uses cell-shaded art style for their game.

The game is graphically 3d computer designed. We realise this when we see the characters and their weapons.

Being made on a computer the game is more fun for the user because its not real life.

Cel shaded art style is used in Zelda to appeal to younger target audiences.

When Zelda is fighting the creatures are non realistic which fits in with cell-shaded art style.

Exaggeration

Exaggerated images are images that are larger or look different then they are in real life.

Tekken

Tekken uses exaggerated features as you can see their bodies are larger than real life. Some of the characters have non-human faces which is an exaggeration.

The characters also have extreme powers and abilities for example punches that make the characters fly, or throw fire balls or electricity balls.

The environments the game is set in is an exaggeration.

Mortal CombatMost things in the game are exaggerated for example their powers and their finishing moves which some can throw fire.

The game also uses weird environments where you wouldn’t really tend to see someone fighting there

Mario

Mario is an exaggerated game style, the characters are to small.

In Mario the pipes are massive compared to real life .

The game uses both exaggeration and under-exaggeration. The clouds are under-exaggerated comparing size to the other things.
