Unit 11 Final Evaluation Introduction This report will be an evaluation of my work during unit 11. It will include designs of my website, the final product of my webpage, evolution of my work from how I first designed it to now and lastly evaluation of my progress throughout this unit. Designs The reason I have designed my webpage the way I did was because our theme was about superheroes and the superhero I have chosen was Storm from X-men. I wanted to design a webpage that would be useful and easy to use for users my target audience was 11 to 21 and onwards anyone really who have a passion for comics who are interested in Storm and wants to learn about her. There are other additional pages such as media that’s links to the youtube website showing videos and clips of Storm, collectibles such as objects for people who collect and purchase figurines or action figures and comics for people who wants to find comic bookstores near them. The usability of my webpage is easy and straight forward to use as also I’ve got a younger target audience as well as older. The way I chose my colour theme has a link to the superhero I have chosen, it’s a monochromatic effect which the main three colours that Storm wears is grey, white and black so I added and blended to the webpage making it look effective also making a banner of a X but I put in the middle was a lightning bolt representing her by giving a logo for the website. The reason the way I designed my website was all orientated at Storm so I wanted the webpage to look as professional and easy to use.

Unit 11 Final Evaluation

IntroductionThis report will be an evaluation of my work during unit 11. It will include designs of my website, the final product of my webpage, evolution of my work from how I first designed it to now and lastly evaluation of my progress throughout this unit.

DesignsThe reason I have designed my webpage the way I did was because our theme was about superheroes and the superhero I have chosen was Storm from X-men. Final ProductFirst of all my designs I done for my website was all on Powerpoint presentation designing what it will look like the pictures the buttons, logo and each of the pages. I built my website on a programme called dreamweaver. There were certain steps at the beginning to go through to get the structure of my website were at first I had to save an asset which were the pages and the buttons, first of all the pages I had to make it all separate on dreamweaver by saving the banner as a single picture and the bottom context of the website save as a single picture from each of the page such as home, biography, media and all the other pages.

As you can see here all the pictures and buttons are all separated. The buttons had a similar way as the context and the pictures of the website I had to save them as an images but 2 different types of images one was a normal button and the other one what it will look like after when you scroll over it as that was part of my design.

After sorting out all the

context of each of my pages and sorting the buttons what it will look like before and after I had to link each of the pages back to each other this means if I click home it will go back to home and this will be the same for biography, media and the rest especially for my biography page I have 4 different pages link to it so I had to use this tool called hotspot highlighted the buttons on my biography page linking to the other extra pages linked to it and linking back to the biography page.

Mostly

I was linking websites and other pages to other ones using the hotspot tool using also on my comics page highlighting the pictures of the comic bookstores linking to the own comic book stores website also for my collectibles page I have done the same linking to the pages that the figurines and the collectibles are from.

I felt making the website was successful because it still looks a bit like my original plans and the usability of my website is easy and simple to use and my target audience still ranges 11-21 onwards.

Evolution of my workThe way I designed my website was I drawn out the layout of roughly what it will look like as here is an example of my biography page but I also done to all my other pages.

At first I wanted to make more bio page all in one with all the details but because I couldn’t and there weren’t enough space I had to add extra buttons which will link to the other additional pages such as background information, other names, public information and in-story information making it all my biography page but with extra pages.

Most of my pages I designed drawing out didn’t go exactly the way it did when I designed them on the PowerPoint presentation it was mostly because of the space limit and all the context I wanted couldn’t fit on the screen and the way it was laid out on the computer compared to a paper there was a bit of a difference. Mostly the main parts of my design that didn’t change that much was my banner/logo, my buttons and my search box up in the corner are mostly the main ideas that are original. Also the buttons I done on my biography page I done a button for before and after but because I didn’t leave spaces for the buttons I just used hotspot which links to the other pages.

To most of my pages I wanted many pictures and moving animations for few of my pages but with these extra images it would make my website slower as the images and videos will take longer to download but I just wanted a build a website that was quick to use and not long to load to each page so I kept it more of a simple design for my website to the best it could be and have the best usability for my users.

Evaluation of my progressThroughout this whole course of unit 11 it taught me the way websites can be built and the way you have to design and plan to get your website to look as professional as it can be. Also it taught me images and the way the low resolution is better for all websites as it can make it slow for the whole website and it will take long to download as most of my context are images all together for each of my pages so it makes it quick to download for all pages and easy to use as that was my plan for my website to be quick and sufficient to use. At the beginning of this course I weren’t as confident in building a website but as I learnt through the unit and see all the planning and all the designing you need to do and notes to build your website it helped me to make a website that it’s all about a superhero Storm. This unit also helped me to use a programme I never used before called dreamweaver which makes websites and it showed me all the tools it has and all the technical techniques to make a webpage. Mostly it taught me about web authoring, protocols, design conventions and software all of this helped me to design my webpage. It showed me the different softwares to build a webpage such as HTML text editors this is most of the difficult and tricky one to use to build a website and using dreamweaver still showed me many editing skills to build my website.
