THE SKINNY ON BOTOXWith over 4 million treatments done last year, Botox is the most popular aesthetic treatment in the world today. Botox makes a person feel and look refreshed, revitalized and younger.

As we get older our skin ages and the architecture of our muscle changes. Aging skin and wrinkles result from a combination of many factors such as cellular changes, collagen depletion, hormone loss, and damage caused by free radicals. However, there is a muscular component as well. The 11’s – those vertical lines that appear between your brows – result from muscle contractions. When you concentrate, squint, or frown, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. After years of contractions, those wrinkles can stay even after the muscles are at rest. Botox works by decreasing the nerve signals to these muscles, which helps the muscles to relax, thereby decreasing the lines that form between the muscles.Often Botox can also be combined with dermal fillers to enhance the cosmetic result. Some of the wrinkles ad furrows are caused by loss of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA helps to hold in moisture and make your skin to look fuller and smoother. As you age and the things that I noted happen, the level of HA in your skin also decreases. Dermal fillers help replace some of the HA your skin has lost; bringing back volume and smoothness. Botox works best to help reduce lines and wrinkles caused by dynamic movement ie. furrowing your brow, laughing, smiling. Whereas the dermal filers work to reduce static lines, lines and wrinkles at rest. Dermal fillers generally last for 9-12 months, can be combined with Botox, and require no down time.

The treatment is done in the office with minimal down time. You can literally have Botox treatment done on your lunch hour and go back to work without anyone noticing. A very tiny needle is used to inject small amounts of Botox (which is a type of purified protein). There is generally no bruising associated with it. Within 4-7 days your skin will start to look more relaxed, rested, and younger. Many of my patients get comments like ”you look well rested”, “did you go on vacation”, and “you look soo relaxed”. Botox treatments, in the right hands, generally lasts for 3-4 months and should not make you look frozen or artificial. Botox essentially enhances your natural beauty.

GO BOLD&BRIGHT THIS SUMMER and ACCESSORIZE! Summer’s almost here and you can celebrate it by wearing the summer’s chicest accessories. From colorful hats that block the sun out of your eyes to bright belts, you can’t go wrong wearing these bold ad-ons in the hot summer months. Summer time is all about easy, breezy dressing and airy and free flowing pieces. Here’s are some of our latest picks:

TotesRunning errands doesn’t have to be boring! Brighten up a trip to the store with a stylish market tote. Try these totes on for size from Kate Spade to Anthropologie …Get inspired and renew your bags this season!

WristletsEliminate the weight of that large handbag of yours and try a colorful lightweight wristlet instead. If you want arm candy, then a wristlet is just what you need. Zappos (www.zappos.com) offer a wide variety to choose from.

Hats and SunniesTwo very important outdoor staples. A great

fedora or floppy hat gives your look an urban chic twist. The same pair of sunglasses that you wore during the rest of the year works well here too. Wear them for sun protection

but just be sure to protect your face as well.

Statement JewelryAmps up an outfit with an electric accessory. You don’t have to wear them everyday, but they should definitely be an option. Check out www.baublebar.com for the latest. Or try on a pair of shoulder duster earrings- long lux earrings that skims your shoulders. Think bold, colorful hues and details such as metallic. For a few options check out www.shopstyle.com.

Nail PolishA few strokes of polish can help anyone’s digits look better. Sally Hansen (www.sallyhansen.com) launched eight magnetic polish shades. Magnetic polish, is the latest trends in 3D designs… the polish bottle has a magnet built into the cap, and you simply hold it over your nails after two coats of polish in order to create a magical 3D design. So cool!

Live in style this summer...Whether you have a porch, pool, or patio, extend your living space outdoors this summer with our guide to creating the

perfect retreat for you and your family to enjoy.

• Soften it up - Pick out new cushions and pillows for your outdoor furniture. Try a new color scheme and add texture with an outdoor area rug.

• Furniture arrangement is key - Create conversation seating areas that are inviting for guests. Add in colorful garden stools as a side table or for additional seating.

• Florals and plants - Even though you’re outside it’s still important to incorporate them into the design. Use a cluster of ceramic pots to show off your favorite summer flower.

• When the sun goes down - Mood lighting is a must whether it’s wall sconces, solar lanterns or even traditional candle light.

• A little something special - Add a fountain to your space for additional ambiance; nothing is more tranquil than a water feature. Or adding a small outdoor fireplace or firepit is a great focal point and will keep the bugs away while you’re relaxing.

GET ORGANIZED with 5 Helpful Tips from HATCHEDit.com

Every mom knows that organization is key to running a successful family. That is why owners Kirsten Bischoff and Megan Brown

created a site where moms can easily build a better, easier way for families to communicate and coordinate their busy lives. Below Hatchedit.com owners share some great tips on how to create a

seamless family calendar.

1. Start with a budgetExpenses for certain activities may ramp up at the end of a season and expenses for other activities may ramp up towards the end of the school year. When budgeting be sure to consider things like costumes, pictures, holiday and thank-you gifts for coaches/teachers, and contributions for end of season parties.

2. Be sure to remember all of those special end of season events When considering a time commitment for an activity, don’t just plan for the weekly practices/classes that an activity requires. Be sure to include tournaments, special performances, and added practices.

3. Calculate pick-up and drop-off times Be sure to build in added time for practices that tend to run late or require equipment or uniform changes.

4. Keep the whole family in the loop with one calendarWe created Hatchedit.com so that a

single family could all access one family calendar. With free apps, kids and parents can see who is where, and know where they

need to be. Even better? Your kids cannot connect to any account outside your family

account.

5. Schedule family timeMake sure that there is at least one block of time on your weekly calendar that allows your family to come together and talk. School activities are full of moments where your child may succeed and where on occasion they may fail, and having a dedicated time to discuss those experiences is just as important as providing a place for them to happen.

About Hatchedit.comHatchedit.com is a free site available as a free Android and iPhone app and includes a shareable, color-coded family calendar, photo sharing and more. Hatchedit.com has been recognized by the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) with the Organizers Choice Award for Best Tech Product of 2012, have been selected by Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine as a Site to Surf (May 2012), and has been awarded the Parent Tested Parent Approved Seal.
