UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS / GENERAL INFORMATION

At Faith Lutheran College the uniform, in conjunction with student presentation standards, is seen as an external statement of the quality education offered at the College and is a commitment to the College ethos and the Faith community.

Families and students have the opportunity to select from a clothing range of suitable attire that allow students choice - dependent upon weather, body type and activity.

All students are to required to wear the College uniform both at the College and when travelling to and from the College. They may also be required to wear the uniform to official functions.

MAKE-UPIt is our preference that students do not wear make-up at the College. Students who choose to wear make-up may only wear light, natural coloured foundation and minimal mascara. Eyeliner, nail polish, false nails and coloured lip cosmetics are not to be worn. Nails are to keep short and neat.

JEWELLERYStudents may wear

• a watch of reasonable size and appearance • a plain light chain with a small cross • medical alert bracelet • a maximum of one plain gold/silver sleeper or stud in

each ear lobe • No additional body piercing or body art is permitted

All uniform items are purchased from the Uniform Shop located at the Middle and Senior Campus. Please refer to our website for Uniform Shop opening hours.

HAIR STYLES • Hair is always to be kept in a neat and tidy manner off

the face and if necessary pins/clips should be used. Fringes are not to be below the eyebrows, unless tied back

• Hairstyles are to allow for the correct wearing of the College cap/hat

• Hair longer than the top of the collar must be completely tied back

• If a hair-tie, ribbon or clip is used it is to be one of the College colours (ink navy blue, white, charcoal/black or green). The College Uniform Shop stocks a selection of hair accessories

• Unusual cuts/styles, eg mullets, rat tails, shaved heads, patterned cuts, extreme length difference, extreme hair colouring, are not permitted

• Spikes, mohawks or an untidy/unkempt rumpled look are not acceptable

• Hair should be natural colour. Highlights within the natural colour range is acceptable

• Cuts must be ‘No 2’ or higher • Students are to be clean shaven

YEAR 12 JUMPERSYear 12 students may choose to wear their Year 12 jumper each day. They are reminded that they will need to fulfil formal uniform requirements for certain events (excursions, College photos, End of Year Services, etc).

NON-UNIFORM DAYSNon-uniform days are designed to allow students attend College in casual attire, in return for donating to a nominated charity.

Guidelines are in place to ensure that all members of the community can work and learn in an environment where they feel safe and valued.

• On all occasions students should dress using common sense, considering others in the College community

• Students need to maintain modesty at all times and consider other community members. Appropriate length of skirts and shorts – ‘on the knee’ is a good guide. The midriff should not be exposed

• Shirts should cover the upper body including shoulders, with sensible consideration given to neckline

• Clothing should not have any slogans that are offensive to anyone in the College community

• Appropriate supportive and enclosed footwear should be worn. Thongs are not acceptable

• Under clothing should not be visible

• During Term 1, Term 3 and Term 4, hats or caps are to be worn for any outside activity

UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS / GENERAL INFORMATION

HATSHats are to be worn, when outside, in Terms 1, 3 and 4. The UV radiation level can also be 3 and above in Term 2, so it is recommended staff and families check the UV forecast in advance if arranging an all-day outdoor activity in Term 2.

The girls’ braid hat is permitted to be worn with the formal uniform only. (Middle and Senior School)

Hats must be in a good state of repair and without alteration.
