• May be classified into two types :– Guided : mentransmisikan gelombang
elektromagnetik (data) dengan menggunakan konduktor fisik seperti serat optic atau kabel

• Transmisi data dan penangkapan data sangat bergantung pada antena
• Untuk transmisi data, sinyal ditransmisikan oleh antena transmitter dengan cara menyebarkan gelombang elektro magnetik ke udara
• Untuk menangkap data, antena receiver menyerap gelombang elektromagnetik yang berada di udara sekitarnya

• Jaringan telepon antar kota yang biasanya menggunakan menara relay adalah salah satu contoh penggunaan gelombang mikro jenis terrestrial.

• Jika jarak antara kota A dan B adalah 1000 Km dan kita akan memasang antena terrestrial dengan tinggi maksimum 80 meter, hitung berapa antena yang akan dipasang (transmitter, receiver, repeater)
