UNESCO NATURAL HERITAGE DISCOVERY
(ASEAN-BANGKOK APPRECIATION & EXPERIENCE)

UNESCO Natural Heritage Discovery program is a program that was organized by
Ministry of Education Malaysia. The program took place in Bangkok, Thailand for one
week. There are 30 of us from UNESCO club who represented Malaysia for this
program which was held at Crescent International School (CIS), the main objectives
of the program are:
To expose the participants about the importance of preservation and
conservation of historic places in UNESCO recognition
Understand the way of life and cultural diversity found in the country
Organize activities at Crescent International School as a social service
Understanding the education system practiced in Thailand
On 30th September 2013, as soon as we reached Bangkok, we went straight to the
Embassy of Malaysia. We had our lunch there and listened to the welcoming speech
by the Embassy and our program director. After lunch, we checked in into our hotel,
Holiday Inn Silom, which was located at the centre of Bangkok - Silom Road.
On 1st October 2013, we had our breakfast at the hotel and left the hotel at 8.30am. We
reached the school at 9am and the program started right away. We started our activities
there with ice breaking session and followed by other activities that required the students in
CIS to participate. Once the program at CIS finished, we went to UNESCO headquarters
office in Bangkok. There, we had a little briefing about UNESCO Bangkok. Next, we went to
the Chao Phraya River for a boat ride to enjoy the view of Bangkok city.
On 2nd October 2013, we did bunch of activities in CIS. We, the ambassadors facilitated all
the activities. The program lasted for 3 hours. Next, we went to the Ministry of Higher
Education of Thailand office. There, we were given the description of the education system
conducted in Thailand.
On 3rd October 2013, we have no program at Crescent International School (CIS),
but we went for a trip to Ayutthaya to see some of the famous landmarks. Among the
places we visited were Bang Pa-in Palace also known as Summer Palace, Wat
Watyachaimongkorn, Wat Chai Watthanaram, Wat Phra Si Sanphet and Floating
Market.
On our last day in Bangkok which is on 4th October 2013, we conducted a futsal and
basketball matches between Malaysia and CIS representatives. The program ended with a
closing ceremony.
