UNESCO Strategy for Action on Climate Change

Disaster risk reduction

The Strategy recognizes the links between climate change and disaster risk reduction and the the need to increase the resilience of communities to climate change and extreme weather phenomena through systematic planning and capacity development, including through gender responsive components.

For this purpose, UNESCO will assist Member States to provide a platform for enhancing cooperation in knowledge-sharing, policy advice and education for disaster preparedness and mitigation and supporting the further development of risk reduction networks and hazard warning systems.
