EHIME UNIVERSITY, SOUTH SULAWESI PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT AND HASANUDDIN UNIVERSITY EXTEND THE MOU

Ehime University Japan, South Sulawesi Provincial Government, and Unhas agreed to extend the three-party collaboration. The extension of the collaboration was carried out in an official event held on Monday, March 4, 2019 located on the 5th floor of the Ehime University Rector’s Office, Matsuyama City, Ehime Province, Japan.The signing of the MoU was the end of the results of the three-party talks held at the end of 2018 at the Tamalanrea Unhas Campus.

At that time Ehime University visited Makassar to meet with the South Sulawesi Provincial Government and Unhas.The Director of

Communication at Unhas, Suharman Hamzah, Ph.D, said that the MoU was related to improving the Human Resources of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government.

On Wednesday, March 20th, 2019, Universitas Hasanuddin hosted some lecturers from Japan, especially Yokohama City University, and several others from the Philippines, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. They attended the Pre Conference of IACSC (International Academics Consortium for Sustainable Cities) 2019. This annual event took place in Manila, Philippines last year and for this time Unhas was honored to be the host.

In his remarks shortly after the signing, Ehime University Chancellor, Prof. Yuichi Ohashi said that 9 years ago, in August 2010, a Trilateral MoU was signed for the first time, and an extension can now be made. From the data from Ehime University, during the last 5 years, the 3-party collaboration had 376 students and lecturers who came to Ehime and went to South Sulawesi to collaborate in social, academic and industrial fields, as well as recently collaborated in the field of disaster. This was marked by disaster studies in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Central Sulawesi. At the end of his brief remarks, the Chancellor of Ehime University hoped that closer cooperation could be carried out and more concrete in the form of training for provincial government staff.

Meanwhile, the Governor of South Sulawesi expressed his gratitude for the support and assistance of the Ehime University and Ehime Provincial Governments for the disaster that hit Central Sulawesi last year. Unhas’ Rector, Prof. Dwia, when delivering her speech with optimism, also believes that this collaboration will be realized with good intention and as soon as possible. This can be seen from the track record of collaboration between Unhas and Ehime

University that has been going on for a long time both in the form of SUIJI programs, C-BEST programs, and collaboration between lecturers and student exchanges, joint publications and joint international seminars. This was also strengthened by the number of Unhas staff and alumni who continued their education at Ehime University.

The meeting was followed by a small team meeting to sharpen the cooperation plan. And it ended with a dinner together, as is the custom of Japanese society. The dinner was attended by Deputy Governor Ehime Kazuhito Kouno, South Sulawesi Governor and team, Chancellor Ehime and the team, and Unhas Chancellor and team.

DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS RECEIVED ACCREDITATION AWARD FROM ABEST21 IN TOKYO

The Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Hasanuddin University received ABEST21 international accreditation (The Alliance on Business Education and Scholarship for Tomorrow, 21st Century Organization). ABEST21 is an international business school accreditation institution based in Japan. The ceremony was held in Tokyo on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the ABEST21 General Assembly Meeting.

This international accreditation certificate was given directly by the President of ABEST21, Prof. Fumio Itoh to Unhas’ Rector, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA, who accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Unhas, Prof. Dr. Rahman Kadir., M.Sc., CIPM., and the Head of the Economics Department, Dr. Sanusi Fattah., M.Sc.

Unhas’ Rector, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu also shared her support and congratulated the Economics Department team for this remarkable achievement. Various assessment procedures have been passed to obtain this achievement and the culmination of the assessment was the visitation that was conducted by the peer review team ABEST21 on January 18-19, 2019. Members of the peer review team during the visitation are, Prof. Fumio

Itoh (President ABEST21), Prof. Dr. Chandra Fajri Ananda (Vice President of ABEST21, Universitas Brawijaya), Prof. Dr. Ming Yu Cheng (Tunku Abdul Rahman University, Malaysia), and Dr. Budiono (Padjajaran University).

The awarding ceremony of ABEST21 was also attended by the Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, Prof. dr. Nasrum Massi, Director of Communication of Unhas, Suharman Hamzah., Ph.D., and several other academic staffs.




Friday, 15 March 2019, Unhas held a public lecture “Halal Business in Japan”. This event was held in Senate Room in Hasanuddin University, and was attended by students and lecturers from Hasanuddin University and other Universities in Makassar. Before the lecture was delivered, the Dean of Faculty of Cultural Sciences Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Akin Duli, M.A opened this event. Then, Yo Nonaka Ph.D as the lecturer of this lecture, moderated by Meta S.P Astuti, Ph.D, delivered a lecture about the opportunity of halal business in Japan by seeing how increasing the tourism in Japan. Some students of Keio University also attended to share information

In the Hall of Prof. Mattulada, Faculty of Cultural Science, Unhas held the ‘Micro Budget Film’ Master Class by Dr. Victoria Duckett from Deakin University Australia and Movie Screening of Australian movie ‘Lost Gully Road’ in the framework of the 2019 Australia Indonesia Cinema Festival. This activity was opened by the Director of Partnership, Dr. Ir. Muh. Iqbal Djawad, M.Sc, and attended by representatives from the Australian Consulate, lecturers, and students of the Faculty of Cultural Science.

Socio-Economic Association of Animal Husbandry UNHAS (HIMSENA) held an Entrepreneurship Seminar at the Building of Science and Technology UNHAS, on Wednesday, 27th March, 2019. The seminar entitled Own The Future With Entrepreneurship took place from 09.00-13.00 by presenting two speakers namely the Chairperson of the South Sulawesi HIPMI, Yuspratman Yunus, SE, and Ravi Mahardika, Owner SS Barbershop, and guided by Dr. Muh. Ridwan, SPt, MSi. This activity was opened by the Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry Dr. Sitti Nurani Sirajuddin, SPt, MSi. The event was also attended by the Chairperson and Secretary of the Department of Socio-Economics of Animal Husbandry, Dr. Aslina Asnawi, SPt, MSi and Dr. Siti Nurlaelah, SPt, MSi and the Trustees of the Socio-Economic Student Association of Animal Husbandry, Dr. Agustina Abdulllah, SPt, MSi. neurship seminar did not only come from Hasanuddin University, but also came from the UIM, the University of BOSOWA, the State Islamic University and several universities in the city of Makassar. During the seminar, the partici-pants who attended approximately 100 students were given knowledge about establishing a business, running a business and sharing the creative experiences of the speakers during business. The implementation of entrepre-neurship seminar activities was first conducted by HIMSENA and will be scheduled every year to foster entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and more motivation for students to dare to become entrepreneurs and create new jobs. Agustina Abdullah hopes that the organization of this seminar can motivate students to get to know more about entrepre-neurship. Therefore, there will be many students who will enter the entrepreneurship business.

As stated by the Head of Sub-Directorate of Public Relations and Public Information at the Directorate of Communication at Hasanuddin University, Ishaq Rahman. “The number passed or received through the SNMPTN is as many as 1,508 people, according to the capacity of SNMPTN Unhas,” he said on Friday (22nd March, 2019 ). From the data released by the Institute of Higher Education Entrance Test (LTMPT), Universitas Hasanuddin was in demand 18,977 registrants from all over Indonesia.




MOU SIGNING WITH IFI

The MoU signing between Unhas and French IFI was held in the meeting room A, 4th floor of the Unhas Rectorate Building.

The event was opened by the Director of Partnership, Ir. Muh. Iqbal Djawad, Ms.c., Ph.D. The MOU was signed by Mr. Marc Piton as Counselor for Cooperation and Culture - IFI National Director accompanied

by M. Benoit Bavouset as Director of IFI Surabaya Representatives. It was also attended by Dean of Faculty of Cultural Sciences Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Akin Duli, M.A, lecturers from French Study Program and French corner representatives.

Afterwards, there was a discussion session in which the audience discussed the implementation of the Indonesia-France Joint Working Group which will be held on 31 October-1 November 2019 at Unhas.
