17th October 2017 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Alex Woodward [email protected] Understudy Productions and Brisbane Powerhouse present New Show “A Very Naughty Christmas” Presented at Brisbane Powerhouse from December 7th - 16th If raunchy reindeer, carnal carols, and a big long North Pole are on your wish list this year, Christmas is coming early! Don’t worry though — Santa never will. Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, these reindeer have something they’d like you to unwrap. Featur- ing a live band, ten stunning performers, and Christmas songs as you’ve never heard them before, this salacious evening of cabaret is sure to get you in a holiday mood. If you’re lucky, you might even get to sit on Santa’s lap. So what is it? A Very Naughty Christmas is a comedy cabaret which pokes fun at traditional Christmas Concerts. It features burlesque, drag, and a range of phenomenal singing and dancing styles. A Very Naughty Christmas was inspired by the yearly celebration producer and co-creator Alex Woodward hosted called “Friends’ Christmas”. “My friends and I would get together and all wear sexy Christmas outfits: somebody would be an elf; somebody would be a ‘Camp Santa’ or ‘Naughty Mrs. Claus’. Santa would hand out the worst possible gifts he could find at a two dollar store and we would all bring food and wine to share. It was a great way to celebrate Christmas with our non- related family.” In adapting this idea for the stage, the creators — Dan Venz, Matthew Semple, and Alexander Wood- ward — set out to capture this “Friends’ Christmas” spirit, and to contrast the usual tradition of reverent, candle-lit carols in a park or church. With a focus on cheeky fun, audiences are invited to eat, drink and be merry — regardless of beliefs. Created by Dan Venz who is responsible for Brisbane's most salacious cabaret show “Boy & Girl”, as well as creat- ing shows like “Wurst” and helping choreograph “Grease the Arena Experience”. Understudy Productions who brought you the critically acclaimed “Boys of Sondheim” and their most recent production “[title of show]. Matthew Semple who won at the “short and sweet” festival for best writing last year on his show “The Gospel According to Matthew”.

Music Direction
With the arrangements and band being led by Tnee Western-Dyer the music will blow you away. Tnee
has been working as the Musical Director for Seven on Sinatra hosted by the Powerhouse as part of the Queensland Cabaret Festival. Tnee has worked extensively throughout QLD and Australia as well as
directing multiple award winning shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
