GLOBAL PATTERNS: PHYSICAL FEATURES
The Earth is a planet in which 71% is covered by water. This is in the form of oceans, seas, rivers and lakes. The Earth’s oceans are the Arctic, Atlantic, Indian, Pacific and the Southern Oceans.
The remainder of the Earth is made up of huge landmasses known as continents. The six inhabited continents in the world are: Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America.
GLOBAL PATTERNS: HUMAN FEATURES
The human features of the Earth are any parts of the environment that has been built or altered by Humans. The six elements are the following:
- Agriculture
- Settlements
- Industrial
- Economic
- Sociocultural
- Political
Graphs of Human FeaturesWhen we look at the human features of the
environment, these statistics can be placed into various graphs. See the example of picture graph below:
Reading the graph… From this graph we can see that China has the largest
population in 2008 and that Brazil has the smallest
We can also see that USA has 304 500 000
Each picture of the person is equivalent to 100 000 000 on the graph
