The home is lead by providers/ staff (hierarchy)

The home is lead by the home owner (mutual experience)

Most services are built into the res hab environment/ service

Services are in addition to the living arrangement

Most restrictive service, for those in need of this level of

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF PENNSYLVANIA HOUSE RESOLUTION, No. 531 Session of 2019:

• Aprox. 1,600 individuals with Autism and I/DD receive lifesharing services in PA each year

• Data comparison of residential services from 2007 through 2010 indicates that lifesharing participants consistently had the highest level of consumer satisfaction

• PA has a significant waiting list for individuals with Autism and I/DD for residential services

6/25/2020

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF PENNSYLVANIA HOUSE RESOLUTION, No. 531 Session of 2019:

• Lifesharing costs less than other residential models and provide individualized support

• An average lifesharing budget is approximately $45,000 per year compared to a community or group home budget of approximately $150,000 per year

• By the year 2030, the number of caregivers available to care for nearly 75 million individuals 65 years of age or older will be vastly insufficient

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF PENNSYLVANIA HOUSE RESOLUTION, No. 531 Session of 2019:

• Our workforce cannot keep pace with the demand, so there will not be enough workers to care for the baby boomers

• Lifesharing may be an option for many of these individuals

• It is important to educate the public about lifesharing and ensure that individuals with intellectual disabilities are provided with information so that they may choose lifesharing as a viable living arrangement
