We pride ourselves on our student-centered philosophy. Small-class sizes mean professors can focus on the interests of individual students. The average class size is less than 14 students. We have around 130 teachers ranging from full-time professors to adjunct faculty dedicated in pro viding a high-quality education. Faculty is comple-mented by around 45 staff members, maintaining the administrative and technical support system that allows our 500 students to succeed in today’s rapidly changing world.

ResearchWebster Vienna Private University is fortunate to have research faculty who actively pursue and acquire grant-funded research projects. Our research faculty pursue academic inquiry along the framework of the Social and Behavioral Sciences and regularly publish in top-ranked, peer-reviewed journals, author monographs or edited works, attend competitive conferences and symposia, and are sought after by the larger community for their input on salient issues discussed in the mass media. The institutional research focus corresponds with the respective disciplines that are taught in the bachelor and master study programs.

3 Tailor your degree with your electivesYou can enhance your major by choosing higher-level elective courses in the same field, or expand your major by studying related subjects in another field. For example, Business majors may wish to improve their presentation skills with elective courses in Media Communications, while International Relations majors might be interested in the psychology of cultural diversity.

You can also earn a double major by choosing all your elective courses from one other major department, or add a minor by selecting a cluster of elective courses from a different department.

The three components of your degree:

1 Requisite courses and Global Citizenship ProgramYou will start your studies by taking Requisite Competency courses in order to master a core set of skills that prepare you for future academic work. These include writing compo- sition, math, computer applications, study skills and the freshman seminar. The American liberal arts education system also provides broader, more general knowledge – in areas such as history, science, and the arts – as well as training in critical thinking and problem-solving skills (Global Citizenship Program). These skills are crucial for you to become well-rounded citizens of the world: intel-lectually adept and resourceful, able to handle complex situations and changing conditions in the 21st century.

2 Your majorWhen you have chosen your » major «, your main area of interest, you will take a distinct sequence of courses in that specific discipline – some courses are required, others are electives and can be chosen by you to best fit your area of specialization and interest.

Career Opportunities Our campus is unique in its access to many of the world’s top international and nongovern-mental organizations. In the courses taught at the International Relations (IR) Department you will learn how to do rigorous and structured research, how to understand and explain a comprehensive range of international relations issues and how to develop scholarly analysis as well as how to apply it. Media Communications is a fascinating, rapidly changing and growing field. News, entertainment, advertising, audiovisual production, photography, animation, feature writing, blogging, social and personal media – they are all part of it. The Internet and the digitalization of infor- mation have driven media to new horizons and will continue to do so.

The Media Communications program is an excellent choice if you want to understand how the media works and how to apply your knowledge in practical training.

As a student of Media Communications, you will enjoy the attention you receive in our small and inter active classes. During your studies you will be able to develop your own style by gaining hands-on experience in media production or writing under the guidance of our dedicated faculty.

The curricula of our media major includes internships, guest lectures and visits to media organizations. Students complete their degreee by producing an academic thesis. The sheer talent of the lecturers to fully capture my attention was what had turned my initial liking of psychology into an insatiable hunger to learn more and to strive higher. It was their knowledge, guidance, and devotion that had prepared me, and finally helped me to obtain my Masters in Social and Developmental Psychology from the University of Cambridge. It is the quality of its lecturers that defines the quality of a University. In that respect, the Department of Psychology at Webster Vienna is the best of the best and I warmly recommend it to anyone with an interest in psychology.

THE WRITING CENTER To be successful in class and also in your future professional career, it is essential to be able to communicate correctly and effectively. We offer individual tutoring free of charge – to help you improve your writing skills in all areas: grammar, essay writing, citation formats, and editing.

ACADEMIC ADVISORS From day one, you will be assigned to a personal advisor who will guide you throughout your time at Webster on course selection and all issues related to your academic goals.

THE QUANTCENTER The Quant Center offers you free individual tutoring sessions as well as group workshops in math and quantitative work. By working with experienced tutors, staff and faculty, students will better understand the concepts taught in their math and quantitative classes.

THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION (SGA) Your elected student representa-tives in the SGA serve as your voice in university affairs. They organize fun events and activities for students and also promote programs designed to help you in your creative and academic projects. Community LifeStudying at Webster means much more than just getting your degree. Our campus life offers you the opportunity to get the most out of your student experience by getting involved in our tight-knit, diverse community. We know that students who are engaged, have a strong social network and have close contact with faculty and staff do better in class too – so join us and become a full-fledged Gorlok!*

You can get involved in one of our many programs and organizations for student life – the Student Government Association, Webster LEADS program, or a student club (we have lots, from soccer to debate to dance!). Students and the university put on all sorts of events, excursions and activities throughout the year: the Thanksgiving feast, the Webster Works Worldwide charity day, international cultural festival, and our famous talent show (the winners get to compete against their fellows from the other Webster campuses). New student orientation, held before the start of each term for new students, is a packed week of fun, learning and meeting new friends to get you settled in and begin engaging in the student community. Our Webster Europe soccer tournament is also a fine tradition, taking place at a different campus each year.

Study in a PalaisWebster Vienna is conveniently located just a few steps away from the historic city center of Vienna.

Most students are mesmerized when they enter our campus, the beautiful Palais Wenkheim. Built in 1826, this neoclassical building features elegant architectural detailing, both in the interior and exterior. The building was completely renovated and transformed into a modern site for academic and operational excellence in 2014.

Contemplate, Communicate, CollaborateWe offer facilities for all your study needs, whether you prefer working in groups with friends or in complete solitude.

At the Library and Learning Center you will find the resources you need for your course work, to satisfy your intellectual curiosity, or to relax with a good book. Here you will have access to study carrels, project rooms for group study, computer stations for your studies and for access to research databases, etc.

Each classroom in Palais Wenkheim is unique and equip- ped with the latest technology. We have a large video conference room where classes are conducted simultane-ously with other Webster campuses worldwide.

Our Media Department has rooms with state of the art equipment for video and audio recording.

Classes at Webster Vienna teach you important theory as well as help you gain real-life experience. After completing my first year I already managed to gain work experience through the Work Study Scholarship program and started a part-time position at an international company.
