Mr. Bugs Tan is one of the most outstanding inventors in the country. He has a creative mind and could easily conceptualize a solution to a technical problem quite easily.Mr. Bugs has 14 national awards to his name. He received the National Innovation Award from the Prime Minister in 2007. In 2009 India honored him with an International Excellence Award for Innovation. In 2012 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the top university in Malaysia UTM. This is in recognition for his life time contribution to the field of creativity and innovation.The list of invention is too long to read out here. But some good ones are like the Litewalk steel grating panels used on oil platforms. Fan filta, which makes cleaning of a ceiling easy for house wives. Out Door Air Cooler for fresh cooled air during out-doors functions.Bugs has a soft spot for children and he has also developed a few educational and entertaining products. These products promote creative thinking skills for children at a young age. He has created a 5 Invention workbooks, written 6 stories for kids, 11 animations and conduct innovation camps during school holidays.Bugs is also a Judge for the James Dyson Award, an international invention competition held over 18 countries. He is also a celebrity Judge for the IDEAS Malaysia Inventor’s Challenge, a reality TV show broadcast over TV3. The latest addition to Bug’s contribution to the nation is the CIPCO / innoWAYsion programs. This is a management tool that provides a step by step method to harvest fresh ideas from a company’s staff. These ideas are then refined and processed into new products and services for the company, which will keep the company ahead of competition and bring in additional revenue. And more importantly, these programs will bring about changes by creating a culture of creativity among all staff at all level in the company.He also has successfully brought-up his 2 daughters into world class inventors
