Recent Mandates in 2012

ECOSOC Resolution E/RES/2012/28

Invites the Committee to study the effect of specific

practices in responsive and inclusive public governance on

development, bearing in mind the need to promote high

standards of public sector integrity, transparency,

accountability, efficiency and effectiveness, at the national

and local levels, promote equal access to public services

and provide opportunities for all people to participate in the

conduct of public affairs.

Recent Mandates in 2012

GA Resolution A/RES/67/195

General Assembly acknowledges the positive trends in

global information and communications technologies (ICTs)

and new services and applications, including e-government

It also reiterates the important role of Governments in the

design of their national public policies and in the provision

of public services to national needs and priorities through

effective use of ICTs

It also recognized the importance of Internet Governance

Forum

It reaffirmed that to achieve sustainable development

goals, institutions at all levels need to be effective,

transparent, accountable and democratic

The effective governance at the local, subnational, national,

regional and global levels, representing the voice and

interest of all is critical for advancing sustainable

development and that the strengthening and reform of the

same should not be an end in itself, but a means to achieve

sustainable development.
