UMES
“My studies at UMES gave me the strong foundation needed to be a Technology & Engineering (T&E) Education teacher. The Department of Technology’s patience and guidance was surpassed by none, and the instructors were the best in their fields. If you are looking for a challenging, yet overwhelmingly rewarding career with 100% job placement, then I strongly encourage you to consider the T&E Education program at UMES.” - Darian Reeves, T&E Teacher in Prince William County Public Schools, Virginia.
“My experiences at UMES allowed me to see a variety of T&E Education programs in grades 6 thru 12. It also allowed me to network with people who wanted to hire me before I completed my undergraduate degree.” - Melvin Gill, Department Chair and T&E Teacher in Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Maryland.
What Do Technology and Engineering (T&E)
Educators Do?
T&E educators use hands-on activities (labs) to
teach middle and high school students how to
develop solutions to technological problems in areas
such as communication, transportation,
manufacturing, and construction technology. This
often involves using various materials, tools, and
machines (ex. 3D printer) while also applying math
and science concepts.
Why Study T&E Education at UMES?
Only T&E program in Maryland endorsed by the
Maryland Higher Education Commission.
Nationally accredited by CAEP and ITEEA
affiliated.
Small class sizes support student learning.
Earn a teaching certification valid in MD or many
other states.
Have a stable career with good benefits (ex.
summer vacation), and a decent salary.
