news about the same sex marriage debate!

http://gaymarriage.procon.org

The NewHuman Rights Battle Michelle Richar

“Gender to skin color, the com-plexion of your pigment, the same fight that led people to walk outs and sit ins. It’s human rights for everybody, there is no difference.” This quote comes from Mackle-more’s popular song, Same Love, a song about equality and same sex marriage. The debate over same sex marriage has become a widely dis-cussed topic in the United States. The controversy is brought into the church, the government, schools, and society as a whole. Now more than ever, citizens are voicing their opinions on the matter and making their views known. It is becoming accepted, espe-cially by young people, to support same sex marriage, despite what The Bible or Constitution says. The fight for same sex marriage rights dates back to 1969 and has become a state by state battle, with different states legalizing gay

marriage one after another. The controversy over same sex marriage is also a huge part of presidential and legislative debates. For example, President Barack Obama states his views on same sex marriage by explaining, “when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet, feel constrained … I’ve just concluded that for me personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.” Some states that have legal-ized same sex marriage are New Jersey, Rhode Island, California, and New York, among others. Proponents for same sex mar-riage often argue that banning it causes discrimina-tion; they say that gays should have

the opportunity to have the same benefits and rights as everybody else. Opponents argue that it may weaken the traditional definition and institution of marriage and that it is unholy and may lead to the legal-ization of polygamist marriages and incestuous marriages. It seems this country is moving forward and making progress in the area of equality and human rights. As Macklemore says in Same Love, “America the Brave still fears what we don’t know.” As America con-tinues in the direction it is moving, soon, the United States will be able to define itself as a country that offers equal rights to every citizen.

In most recent news, the White House and lawmakers rejected Ed-ward Snowden’s plea for clemency in November. They urged Snowden to return from Russia to the United States to face trial regarding the near-ly 200,000 leaked secret government documents.

US senate intelligence commit-tee chairwoman Dianne Feinstein, expressed that Snowden has done an “enormous disservice to our country,” by leaking these documents publi-cally versus reporting the spying to the government. Feinstein believes clemency is out of the question for Snowden. Snowden had requested an oppor-tunity to address members of Con-gress about US surveillance. He also asked for international help to peti-tion the US to drop charges against him. Snowden’s recent agreement to testify in the case regarding the US tapping the German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s mobile phone has not helped him to gain popularity with the US government. Rep. Mike Rogers, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, ti-tled clemency for Snowden a “terrible idea.” “He needs to come back and own up,” said Rogers.

The senator of Arizona, John McCain, how-ever, has a different view on the NSA scandal. McCain wants head of the NSA, Keith Alexander, to be held ac-countable for the leaks of thousands of documents. Arizona senator has

called for Alexander to “resign or be fired.” McCain has noted there was no reason why Snowden, a con-tractor employee, not a government em-ployee, had access to such classified information. Within the past few da, officials in Germany have cau-tioned authorities for the possi-bility of attacks against US facil-ities overseas.

As Snowden continues to expose NSA secrets, German citizens are motivated to move towards violent protests. Dating back to May, Snowden, a former CIA em-ployee and an NSA (National Security Agency) contractor, leaked top-secret information to The Guardian and other media outlets revealing programs like the interception of U.S. and Eu-rope telephone metadata and the PRISM, XKeyscore and Tempora Internet surveillance programs. The PRISM surveillance program has been in effect for six years. It collects 10 data types: e-mails, IMs, voice chats, photos, stored data, file transfers, video-conferences, log in times and social network profile details. Nine tech companies participate. They include AOL, Apple, Skype, YouTube, Paltalk.com, Facebook, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft.

Snowden said his motive for releasing the confidential files “was to inform the public as to that which is done in their name and that which is done against them.” In October, Snowden revealed the US had been monitoring calls of 35 world leaders after US officials handed over their contact information. This information was released closely after Merkel’s allegations came out. The US has upheld Snowden’s criminal charges of theft of gov-ernment property, unauthorized communication of national defense information and willful communication of classified communications intelli-gence information to an unauthorized person.

Due to these charges, Snowden has found asylum in Russia for one year. They have offered him the ability to renew the asylum on a yearly basis. While currently residing in Russia, Snowden has accepted a job as a technical support person for Russia’s largest website.

Sandy Hook, Washington D.C. Navy Yard, LAX Airport, and Westfield Garden State Mall are just some of the many places Americans know all too well as places of gun violence. In December of 2012, Adam Lan-za fatally shot 20 children and six adults at the Sandy Hook el-ementary school in Newtown Ct.

On Monday, Sept. 16 Aaron Alexis walked out of the 4th floor bathroom at the Navy Yard in Washington D.C. and began fir-ing at people including a securi-ty guard. Alexis took the guard’s handgun and continued firing. Twelve were left dead before Aar-on was killed by police gunshot. More recently, on Nov. 1 Paul Anthony Ciancia arrived at the LAX airport and opened fired with an assault rifle he pulled out of his bag. Ciancia continued to move through TSA screening and into a terminal, firing shots. In the shooting, a Transportation Secu-rity Agent was killed and several others were wounded by Ciancia. Just days later, on Nov. 4, Rich-ard Shoop opened fire at the West-field Garden State Mall in New Jersey. Shoops shot randomly into the ceiling and other things before dying of a self inflicted wound. Barely a week later, three teen-agers were shot leaving their high school in Pittsburgh Pa. Alhtough high school aged students may not be legally able to carry a gun, many college students are of age to be legally permitted to do so.

But it is not too often that you may find a college that permits guns to be carried on campus. Following these countless trag-edies related to gun violence, the issue of carrying concealed weap-ons has come to the attention of universities across the country. Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Ed-inboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock and West Chester Universi-ties of Pennsylvania are mem-bers of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

“Everyone has the right to protect themselves, but allowing ugns on campus just opens the univesity to so many

possiblities of incidents.” PASSHE formed The Pub-lic Safety and Security Task Forces in April to ensure that all PASSHE universities contin-ue to provide the safest campus as possible as PASSHE contin-ues to review its safety policies.PASSHE determined that a blanket prohibition policy is legally unen-forceable and would not withstand a legal challenge. Recent court cases in other states regarding Second Amendment rights in rela-tion to public institutions prompted Kutztown, Shippensburg, Edin-boro, Slipper Rock, and Millers-ville Universities to lift their ban in non-sensitive areas of campus. Until a new policy is adopt-ed by PASSHE, guns remain banned at Bloomsburg Univer-sity. The policy remains con-troversial with mixed emotions among students and faculty.

Many students feel guns should be banned entirely from campus. Bloomsburg junior Jordan Stimeling says, “No way, you never know what someone is going to do with that gun. The university should not allow guns on campus.” While many students feel strongly either way, some are indifferent including Leglency Anderson who sees the pros and cons of both policies. Anderson said, “I do feel everyone has the right to protect themselves but al-lowing guns just opens the cam-pus to so many possibilities of incidents.”But a large number of students agree with the proposed policy feeling that guns should be allowed but only outside of buildings and events. Senior Marcus Fuller feels guns should be allowed on campus. Fuller says, “The constitution gives Americans the right to bear arms, therefore we should be allowed to carry guns on campus. But I do feel that anyone wishing to carry their gun on campus must go through a required training first to ensure they take on this responsibility appropriately.”

Chancellor Frank Brogan has recommended the State System board hold sessions throughout the state to seek public respons-es to the controversial gun policy that has been proposed. At the earliest, the proposed policy would not be in effect until Fall 2014.

increasing taxes, cut down on wasteful spending, and put a cap on proper-ty taxes. In addition, approximately 60,000 new private sector jobs were created, making the government smaller by reducing the number of state workers. Chris Christie has proved very successful throughout the years, but one trait that makes him stand out among the rest, is his ability to reason with both the Republicans and the Democrats. He is proud of his many

bipartisan accomplishments, and he is also proud of his close friendship with President Barack Obama. Chris-tie, who is well known for his heavy involvement during Hurricane Sandy, embraced the President with a “bear-hug” while touring the damage Sandy left behind. He received plenty of scorn from members of his party, but also received a lot of respect from the

One Term Just Wasn’t EnoughEmma Schmidt

There were many positive out-comes at this year’s November election, but one main focus

was on Governor Chris Christie. Christie, who was elected for a sec-ond term as the Governor of New Jersey was one major outcome of this election. Spectators believe that he is a top candidate for Republicans in the upcoming presidential election of 2016 for many reasons. Rebekah Met-zler, a writer for US News & World Report, expanded upon his popular-ity claiming, “New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s larger-than-life personality is what first earned him popularity in the Garden State.” http://bit.ly/IshLU5 During The New Jersey guberna-torial election of 2009, Christie won the election by a large margin, and took the position as Governor of New Jersey on January 19, 2010. While in office, he had many accomplishments http://politi.co/1ioqwMB that also aided his rapid growth in popularity. While serving his first term as governor, he was able to deliver balanced budgets annually without

Democratic audience. His ability to connect with different groups of people is what makes him such a popular pick, not only for Gov-

ernor, but for the upcoming pres-idential election as well. Only good things are expected from Christie during his second term. During his first term, he imme-diately came into office with a purpose, and hit the ground run-ning. He became involved very quickly, and saw that change was in the making. During an inter-view on USA Today http://usat.ly/17FZRZp Christie proclaimed, “I didn’t do a second term to do small things, I did it to finish the job. Now watch me do it.”

Social Networking:Do’s and Don’ts for College StudentsAlexander Ruth

It’s safe to say that most college students have allowed pictures from last Friday night

to surface to Facebook, or have tweeted something that they would never say out loud in public. Most of the time we just forget about the pictures posted from pre-gaming or the tweets about how wasted, or “wsdted,” we may have been on Saturday night as they fall further back into our social network timelines and feeds; out of sight out of mind, right? Those posts that we choose to forget are still around and can easily resurface which poses the issue for students looking for in-ternships or jobs. With all of these forms of social media, it is all too easy for a pro-spective employer to just search your name on Google and find your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and possibly the only ‘reputa-tion-safe’ social networking site, LinkedIn. If they find your social network profiles, it could be game-over for any chance of getting that job or internship. One of the great sites available to help erase some of these posts that may have al-ready been posted to your social

networks is Simple Wash, which can be found at www.simplewa.sh . Simple Wash is a way for people to go back through their Facebook and Twitter accounts by bringing up posts that in-clude whatever word a user chooses to search. For example, the user could type ‘drunk’ into the search bar and any of the tweets that includ-ed the word ‘drunk’ in it would come up in the search results.

So what are the do’s and don’ts for ‘pro-fessionalism’ on social networks? Obviously, pictures of beer bonging and keg stands, drunk tweeting, and posts of you cursing like a sailor are all don’ts. On the other hand, you don’t want to only post about school and work on your so-cial networks. Your social networks can be a re-flection of your social life, but they don’t need to be a document composed of drunk tweets and photos from last weekend: save those for the photo album on your phone!

Smart phones, particularly the iPhone, seem to be an invention that most Americans cannot live without. Steve Jobs, former CEO of Apple, essentially wanted to create a computer that did not require a physical keyboard or mouse. When Apple engineers designed a prototype in 2005, Jobs decided to move from what was a tablet computer to a mo-bile phone. Apple’s first genera-tion iPhone, commonly referred to as the original iPhone was an-nounced on January 9, 2007 and introduced to the US on June 29, 2007. Apple sold 6,124,000

first generation iPhones. iPhone 3G, the second-gen-eration iPhone was released on July 11, 2008 with several new features. This iPhone was available in white or black and 8 or 16 GB memory options. Apple’s assisted GPS was first made available to users on the iPhone 3G. Unfortunately, this iPhone was well known for hair-line cracks that appeared on the back of the device’s casing. Al-most one year later on June 19, 2009 the retroactively re-styl-ized iPhone 3GS was released. Voice control, video recording

ability, and improved speed up to 2x times as fast as its pre-decessor were the main im-provements of the iPhone 3GS. Although users have made the word FaceTime synonymous for video calling across all devices, this feature was first available on the iPhone 4 on June 24, 2010.The updated stainless steel frame design serves as the device’s an-tenna. Utilizing the same design, the iPhone 4s upgraded the A5 processor and camera resolution. Released on October 14, 2011, the iPhone 4S first made the iMes-sage instant messenger service available. The virtual personal as-sistant, known as Siri came to life with the release of the iPhone 4S.An elongated screen along with white/silver and black/slate col-or options were the main design differences of the iPhone 5 re-leased on September 21, 2012. Formerly, the 30-pin connector was used on all iPhone gener-ations but the iPhone 5 was the first device of Apple’s transition

to the much smaller 8-pin dock connector. This iPhone was the first to support the high-speed data connection known as LTE. For the first time in iPhone history two versions, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S, were released at once on September 10, 2013. The iPhone 5C was marketed as the iPhone for colorful people. But many others claimed the “C” stood for cheap as the price was cut in half of the standard $200 iPhone cost. Colorful casing, available in white, blue, yellow, and pink, replaced the stainless steel cas-ing of the iPhone 5. White/silver and black/slate casing were the

prior color options of the iPhone 5. A white/gold option was also made available with the introduction of iPhone 5S. Although the technol-ogy has been a part of many lap-tops for a long time now, the iP-hone 5S is the first smart phone to make finger print passwords an option for users. The home button of the phone serves as a finger print scanner to unlock the device. In total, Apple has sold over 192.6 billion iPhones accord-ing to Statistic Brain. As capa-bilities of the iPhone continue to expand, users impatiently await the introduction of new devices.

Gamers had an early Christmas this year as the most anticipated game console came out in the mar-ket. Sony released PlayStation 4 on November 15 in North America and Canada. Other continents such as Europe and Australia were released on November 29. In the US, long waited fans camped out till the midnight launches to get a chance to grab one of the limit number offered at the stores. In 24 hours of its release, just the United States alone, over 1 million consoles were sold all over the country. Andrew House the president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment stated about the release “We are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal,” House explained that “Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect con-tinued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29.” PlayStation 4 has become a part of the eighth generation of game consoles with Xbox One that was release earlier this year. PlayStation 4 puts gamers to an incredible journey through gaming where they can interact with other players with the advanced technology. PlayStation 4 has many features that the previous models never had and major improvements. Apps are included in the console such as Netflix, Amazon instant video, and many more that the user can install. Now there is an app that lets you control your PS4 on your mobile phone where you can stay up to date on your games. One of the new items that came with the con-sole is the main controller; DualShock 4. It is retailed

for $59 and the difference from DualShock 3 is that it will con-nect to Bluetooth 2.1 EDR and has a touch pad where users can guide easier while playing on the console. Just buying the PlayStation 4 alone with a controller is $399. Some stores offered a bundle which includes

the console, two controllers and Call of Duty retailing at $568, which sold out before it hit the selves. On the day PlayStation 4 was launched, 23 games were released for the console. A number of gaming companies who want to get on board on the new console are already have some in development. According to Sony’s site, games that will be released for PlayStation 4 such as KillZone: Shadow Fall, The Order: 1886, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Infamous Second Son, Call of Duty: Ghost and many more. Experts believe that PlayStation 4 has over-powered the Xbox one. According to DailyFinance, they gave three reasons why. First, the PlayStation 4 will be more powerful because it runs a resolution of 1080p, same as HD TV’s where the Xbox One only has 720p. Next it has more exclusive or what people say, better games such as Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto series. Finally, it is cheaper selling at $399 compared to Xbox One to $499 when it was released. So far the console has received an average of 4 out 5 stars on Amazon and Best Buy. PlayStation 4 may be young in the market but already has strong reviews better than the previous console, PlayStation 3. Photo credits: goodkindofgeek.com, digitalspy.com.

Are You Over Doing It? Working out every day is healthy for your body, but only to a certain extent. This is only if you do it the right way. Once someone gets “addicted” to exercising, his or her life tends to go downhill. They first start to love the feeling of working out and it is a major stress reliever in many aspects. Studies show that working out up to a specific point releases certain endorphins that relieve stress, re-duce feelings of depression, boost self-esteem and help you fall into a deeper sleep. There are many different ways that you can also danger your body by working out and exceed your limit. You have to know the differ-ence between your body feeling

comfortable, and when your body just starts to feel tired, day in and day out. When you work out for a certain amount of time, you also have to eat the equal amount of calories to sustain your healthy body weight. You will notice your energy levels fluctuating depend-ing on how many calories you intake daily. Remaining a certain body weight is hard for a person who enjoys working out and stays active the majority of the day. Unfortunately, once some people start to see changes in weight they will continue losing weight, which might get dangerous. http://abt.cm/1f8igAH: This link is a great way to keep track of how many

calories you intake a day and it recommends how many calories you should eat for the intensity of your training. The Boston Globe wrote an excerpt on how overdoing long, intense endurance training may be damaging your heart. You can read more about it if you click the following link: http://b.globe.com/1gYlG9J. Exercising is tre-mendously healthy for your heart, just be aware of all the dangers you can get yourself into. Try not to burn yourself out. Work out for you own well-being and be smart about it. Do not be afraid to take a day off at least once a week and cross train to give your muscles a chance to breathe and recover.

Weekly Workout Example for Starters:

27-30 mile workout week

Monday: Easy Run (30-40 min)Tuesday: Cross Train (60 min)

Wednesday: Rest/StretchThursday: Easy Run (40 min)Friday: Easy Run (30-40 min)Saturday: Cross Train (60 min)

Sunday: Rest/Stretch

Healthy Alternatives to the American ClassicsKristen Hatton

As a society we are in a constant battle with our self-image and our weight. Although the answer is plain and simple, people spend billons of dollars each year trying to find a way to keep the weight off and still eat what they love. “Healthy food is expen-sive” is not a good enough excuse to eat fast food everyday. White flour and white sugar are cheap and commonly found in our pantries, which have a direct correlation to obesity and weight gain. Most people are trying to find an alterative to the heavy, fatty, American Classics. These recipes are cheap and simple, so anyone can make them. Instead of cooking up a big pot of pasta, try boiling a spaghetti squash. Not only is it extremely easy and cheap, you will get a huge dose of vegetables while still enjoying the cheese and sauce! If you are unsure how to go about cooking a spaghetti squash, just simply type it in to Google and numer-ous recipes will come up. Personally, I enjoy boiling mine, adding sauce and cheese then baking it. After it’s cooked it looks and tastes a lot like spaghetti but is mostly made from water, which di-gests easily in the body and doesn’t lead to weight gain. The USA is known for our meat addiction; hamburgers and cheeseburgers are a staple in the American diet, but too much red meat isn’t good for anyone. There are numerous things you can use to make a faux-burger. Creating a burger is simple; you can literally mash up anything and put it in a skillet with some Coconut oil, Voila!

For those who are open to trying new things try making a Portobello mushroom burger. If you want something a bit heartier try a chicken burger, it’s a good alterative to the usual red meat. Step outside your com-fort zone when creating these tasty treats. A stuffed pepper is a great meal that includes a veg-etable, starch and a protein. You can mix and match the protein between chicken, beef, or eggs. Brown rice is a great alterative to white rice and quinoa is an even bet-ter option since it’s high in protein and digests very well. Cooking healthy meals shouldn’t be difficult or pricey, and it will leave you feeling a lot better compared to a heavy fatty meal.

As I walked into the the-ater for the Thursday night pre-miere of the second installment of The Hunger Games trilogy, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, excitement filled the room. I could feel the tension and anticipation from the crowd as soon as I walked in. Through-out the entire movie, the audi-ence and I as well, were on the edge of our seats waiting to see what would happen next.In 2008 Suzanne Collins wrote a book series called The Hunger Games in which the movies are based off of. Catching Fire is the second book in the series.

The first installment in the trilogy, The Hunger Games, was released March 23, 2012. The movie made $67.3 million on opening day and $152.5 million on its opening weekend. The records set made it the third highest grossing film in the United States and the ninth highest worldwide in 2012. It was also the best selling DVD of 2012 with 7,434,058 DVD’s sold. Friday November 23, 2013, the movie’s opening day, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire made $71.0 million compared to the first movie’s $67.3 million. The movie also made $158.1 mil-lion on its opening weekend. These records made it the sixth highest opening week-

end of all time. Jennifer Lawrence plays the movie’s protagonist Katniss Everdeen. Many fans of the books were very happy by the per-formances done by the actors and how perfectly well they were cast to fit their parts in the first movie. The acting impressed even fans that did not read the books. After winning the 74th annual Hunger Games, Kat-niss and Peeta return home to District 12. Shortly after returning, the two are sent on a Victory Tour to visit the other Districts. During the tour, President Snow is plan-ning the 75th games known as the Quarter Quell, which only happen every 25 years. Previous victors from each district are put in a lottery and chosen to compete again in the games. District 12 only ever had three vic-tors, two being Katniss and Peeta, and the two are sent into the games once again. The Hunger Games:

Catching Fire was perfectly casted, maybe even more so than the first movie. Each

actor represented his or her character better than any fan could ever imagine. Even fans that did not read the books were able to expe-rience the exhilaration the movie offers. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is an exciting thrill ride that takes fans on a journey through the eyes of Katniss Everdeen.

Are You A Partof the Coven? There is one show that has

been taking over people’s television screens by storm over the past few years. That show goes by the name of American Horror Story. It is cur-rently on its third season and one thing that many find inter-esting about the show is that it switches plots every season. They also recycled the actors from previous seasons giving them bigger or smaller roles

than before with completely dif-ferent story lines, which seems to be popular with long time fans of the show. The current season is entitled “American Horror Story: Coven.” If you read that right I’m sure that you can guess that this sea-son is in fact about witches. The plot of the show is based around the lives of several witches who since the Salem witch trials have almost become extinct. A school

in New Orleans has since been opened to protect and teach young witches their craft. Voo-doo practitioners who have had a rivalry with the witches that dates back many years have compromised the protection of these girls. Actress Jessica Lange, who plays Fiona, is known as the “su-preme” witch. A supreme witch is highly regarded by everyone and possesses more power than

others. She has come to town to help protect the Coven. While that is the main plot of the show there are many other subplots thrown in, which is typical of the series. At times it can be hard to really understand what is going on because so many things happen every week, but that seems to be what keeps the fans watch-ing. With three seasons under its belt how has American Horror

Story been able to stay on top? Well according to the ratings so far, this season has become the most watched season of Amer-ican Horror Story ever. There is an average of 7.7 million viewers each week with almost 3 million of those viewers being in be-tween the ages of 18-34. The real question is: Has the series been renewed yet for a fourth season? The answer is yes. If you have ever watched

American Horror Story you know that you can always expect the unexpected to happen while watching. This leaves so many options open for what’s to come in the following season. If you want to learn more about the show go to http://bit.ly/1edM-mzL to catch up on what you’ve missed and stay tuned for the upcoming season to air in Octo-ber of 2014.

“Fashions Fade, Style is Eternal”

Everything To Know About a Girl’s Fall Wardrobe Lori Magowan

Whether you’re a fashionista or not, style is something that never gets old. Keeping up with the constant changing trends can be hard, especially for your average college student. Being a college girl who’s obsessed with fashion and keeping your closet up to par can be a struggle. As the trends change every season, you may notice your wallet becomes tighter and tighter. Already into the fall season with winter right around the corner, we’re introduced to this year’s latest must haves. Keep calm ladies, don’t panic just yet. Finding these items for a rea-sonable price can be a breeze when you know the right places to shop.

Already into the fall season with winter right around the corner, we’re introduced to this year’s latest must haves. Keep calm ladies, don’t panic just yet. Finding these items for a rea-sonable price can be a breeze when you know the right places to shop. Becoming wildly popular this year is over the knee socks. This fashion do can be found at Forever 21 for $6.80. You can match them with a dress and heels, skater skirts, or even

dress them down with a pair of high waist shorts, graphic tee, and a cardigan. Anything leather will always be a fashion yes! Whether it’s a jack-et, pants, skirts, shorts, or a dress, leather can pull together any fall look with the right accessories. The ultimate fall outfit must have are those comfortable, chunky, cable knit sweaters. No matter the color, pattern, or design, you can always count on this item to be in any girl’s closet during the fall and winter months.

Along with the usual cold month apparel such as scarves and gloves, beanies are becoming a popular trend for girls and guys. One of the cheapest and greatest quality stores that you can find them on is Forever 21’s website for only $2.80! If that’s not a steal then

I don’t know what is! Some stores I recommend checking out for some of the best deals every season are Forever 21, Agaci, and UrbanOg. Forever 21 is one of my go to websites. It is constantly updating its selections andpromoting its sales throughout all different social media. Not only is it cheap, but its has a great mix of basic of basic and trendy clothes, shoes, and accessories. Not too long ago I discovered the online website, Agaci. Much like Forever21, you can shop often and get a good number of items without breaking your bank account. It offers a variety of styles and trends from fall floral to edgy patterns covered in studs. Boots and pumps and wedges, oh my! This site offers you one of the best deals for not only clothes but shoes as well. Now, I know getting name brand shoes such as Dr. Martens or Jeffrey Campbell Lita booties can be one of the best things a girl could ask for; however, UrbanOG has such a wide selec-tion of shoes that look identical to the real deal for a reasonably cheap price.

Swag is for Boys, Class is for Men

What Every Man Needs for Fall Lori Magowan

Who’s to say men don’t like to keep their fashion sense of style up to date? Usually when people think of fall fashion trends, they assume it’s more of a girl thing, however, guys follow the latest trends too! Guy’s trends in the fashion world don’t appear to change too much over the years, am I right? Little do we know, they change just as much as the girl’s trends do and most items tend to match with one another. Much like girls who can be expert online bargain shoppers, guys can do the same as long as they are looking in all the right places. Apart from it being the typical but stylish go-to pattern for most guys, flannel shirts never go out of style. Whether you grunge it up with a pair of jeans, combat boots and a beanie, or go for a more subtle look and wear it under a sweater, flannel is always be a fall favorite. With the colder temperatures approaching as the seasons change, you can catch the guys trading in their cutoffs and short sleeves for the season’s latest sweaters, cardigans and crew necks of all colors and patterns. The popular hues for guys this time of year mostly consist of earthy tones. Forever21’s men

clothing line, 21 men, offer these items starting as low as $14.80! What do the guys tend to pair their stylish layered look with you ask? Just like the earthy tones, guys gravitate towards dark washed denim jeans as a must have. You can pair them with any outfit or any accessory. Although the dark faded and black washes tend to be more popular than other washes during the colder months, colored pants such as a dark, oxblood red or a dark and daring emerald green are something every guy should consider stepping into this year! On account that Forever21 is definitely a girl’s go to site when they want to score cheap yet great qual-ity clothes, the men’s clothing line is something I would recommend to check out.

It has a large selection to choose from whether it’s jeans, graphic tee’s, blazers, sweaters, zip-up jackets, beanies, watches… you get the point right? More or less, all of these items can be found for under $30! Whether you want to dress ca-sual or spruce yourself up into a businessman in the making attire, this is the perfect store to shop in. It offers a wide variety of both casual and business apparel for both men and women all at the best prices. Now, I know some of you might think that business wear is going to be more pricey than casual clothes, but that’s not the case when it comes to shopping in H&M. If you’re looking to add some new threads to your wardrobe, Pac Sun offers clothing styles from all over. You can find anything form sand and surf to winter wear, as well as everything in between. This year’s collection features many of the urban and grunge trends, which in my opinion, you can never go wrong with. Although these items can be a little higher on the price scale com-pared to others, they’re definitely in that affordable grasp.

Celebrity Update Bangerz Tour is On Its Way

Miley Cyrus announced she was going on tour via Twit-ter, “Im goooooing on toooour!! #Bangerz2014”.Cyrus will be going to major cities like Miami, Los Angeles, and New York City. With the album, Bangerz, that came out on October 8th, Cyrus has done some controversial things. From cutting her long hair to a blonde pixie cut, to giving a scandalous perfor-mance on the VMA’s with Robin Thicke, Cyrus has taken her new image to a whole new level. Recently she gave an emo-tional performance at the European Music Awards, singing

her hit song Wrecking Ball. With this new tour coming out it will be exciting to see Cyrus perform some of her new songs on the album like, Do My Thang, SMS feat Brittney Spears, and also my personal favorite, Some-one Else. In an interview with Ryan Seacreast, Cyrus spoke about the upcoming tour, and how she has only been strictly focusing on the tour. “The minute you step into my arena, the whole thing feels like you’re part of this crazy differ-ent world…” Cyrus kicks off her tour on Valentines Day 2014 in

Vancouver. You can find out the tour schdule or order tickets from Cyrus’s website http://www.mileycyrus.com. Picture Courtesy to The Hollywood Gossip .

The New Christian Grey Everyone read the sexually intense story, 50 Shades of Grey, and in the beginning of fall when Charlie Hunnam was announced as Christian Grey, girls were thrilled. The Sons of Anarchy star was a perfect fit, until he backed out a few weeks ago saying he had too much on his plate. Now the new Grey has been named, Ja-mie Dornan. Growing up in Ireland, Dornan performed in a folk band. When that fell through, he got a small part in the movie, Ma-rie Antoinette. From there he went into mod-eling for popu-lar companies like Calvin Klein, Dior and Armani. Now there are huge ex-pectations for the upcoming film, which will be released on Valentines Day 2015. Hopefully Dornan does a good job playing the strong and dominate Chris-ten Grey. Picture Courtesy to WordPress.com

Celebrities with their New Look With the seasons changing, you’d think celebrities would want to keep their hair long, and full of life. But if you have seen the celebrities recently that is not the case. Stars like Jennifer Aniston and Pamela Anderson have cut their hair very short. Anderson was recently seen running a marathon with a very blonde pixie cut. Also. Aniston was seen at the airport with a shoulder length bob. With rumors that she’s pregnant, Aniston’s new hair would be a great look for her, being a new mom. Another celebrity that has cut their hair way down is Jennifer Lawrence. With Hunger Games: Catching Fire coming out, Law-rence was seen at a press event also with a pixie cut, along with side swooping bangs. These short hairstyles are very edgy and modern. Hopefully these new and risky styles give young girls the courage to be who they are, and cut their hair to whatever length they want. Pictures Courtesy to E!News and Mail Online

New Music: Who, What, and How?

New artists and music can be one of the most exciting things for fans of good music. Whether it’s that one good song you hear over the radio when you least expect it, or the amazing album your friend told you to listen to before they became famous, finding a great new artist is overly exciting. That is good, new music? Everyone has something that tickles her fancy. It really, depends on what genre you love the most. Indie, Pop, Rock, Metal, Rap, Classical, Jazz are all just some of the hundreds of genres of music we love to listen to. Indie is what really gets me grooving. There’s plenty of good music in that genre I love listening to, but one band sticks out in particular. Of Monsters and Men were first featured on the radio in 2011 on Radio 104.5 in Philadel-phia. With its Indie feel, and passion for music, it rapidly became popular. OMAM started by entering a small music competition named Músiktilraunir. Nanna one of the co-singers and guitarists, recalls, “We just kind of…won.” It’s stories like this that fuel the music industry and get music lovers drooling just waiting for the next big band to emerge. So how do you find new artists? Blogs are a great place to start. There are many people who start blogs and update their followers about new emerging artists. Many of these sites originate over seas where there is an especially large number of new artists trying to break through and become something big. Blogs are really great because users can post to their viewers, viewers can post to the bloggers, and forums can be created based on the conversation of the followers. Some blogs are sponsored by different record companies which gives them an advantage over other blogs

because typically they have insiders that work directly with the new artists. Another great way to find new music is by using iTunes radio, Pandora, and Spotify radio. You base your music off a particular band or genre that you are a fan of, then these radios take over. They take what you like and give you mu-sic from that genre and sometime just simply base it off the artists you have listened to before. The great thing about this is that they are completely free! A last suggestion to discover new music, is the most ba-sic form of music. Radio. Large and popular radio stations in bigger cities are typically given new music to sample before the smaller ones. Also, record labels sometimes go directly to these stations to be the very first station in the country to feature them. If you log on to some of these sta-tion’s sites, you can typically also find a new music section. Every Sunday radio 104.5 features new artists, as well as updates its website to correlate with the playlist for that day. For some, music puts them in a different world, for oth-ers it’s what gets them going in the morning, or gets them running like a wild man in the gym. Some people listen to calm themselves, others use it to release anger. What ever you use music for, it is the one universal sound that the whole world can stay in rhythm to.

Of Montsters and Men, “My Head is an Animal” tour. This was their first major

record that took off instantly.

Upcoming Rock AlbumsRobert Kernaghan

Against Me!, the balls to the wall punk band that has been chanting politically fueled, in your face jams for the past decade, is about to release its sixth studio album this coming January. What makes this album stand out in comparison to its previous release isn’t a change in sound necessarily, but the fact that this will be the first release from Against Me! since its singer had begun her sex-change from a male to a female in 2012. Laura Jane Grace, formerly known as Tom Gabel, has been known in the past for her raspy, abrasive vocals that hold a very masculine sound to them. As a fan of the group, I cannot help but wonder if Grace will change her vocal style with the upcoming album, fittingly titled Transgender Dysphoria Blues. Lyrically, the album speaks of Grace’s struggles with transgender dysphoria, as well as other personal battles the sing-er has dealt with. There is no doubt in my mind that this will be an album to look forward to checking out. http://bit.ly/1bP9pgu

Metal Forerunners, Slipknot, have recently come out of the woodwork with news of an upcoming album. These scare rockers, known largely by their use of grotesque masks and dark sound, have been somewhat hush on new material since the unexpected death of their bass player and founding member, Paul Gray. Gray, who was also a major part of their song writing, died of an accidental overdose of morphine and fen-tanyl in mid 2010. Frontman Corey Taylor had stated over the past few years that he was, along with the rest of the band, is still in the grieving process and could not think of doing an album without Gray being there. This is up until recently, when he came out saying that lyrics and songs were being written for the new album. Taylor has described the upcoming album’s sound as a mix-ture of the style that Slipknot used for 2004’s dark but radio friendly ‘Vol. 3’ and 2001’s brutal ‘Iowa’ releases, while incorporating something new. Taylor has also described his writing as “really dark” and percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan’s writing as “fucking beyond.” A permanent replacement for Gray has yet to be an-nounced. http://bit.ly/1hdxTHE

T h e N e i g h b o u r h o o d--A fresh clamor of mesmerizing style climbing out of the under-ground scene. Lucas Wade

In early 2012, the music gods dropped an unfa-miliar band in my lap called The Neighbourhood. Upon further exploration, I discovered the truly

mesmerizing, atmospheric sound the band was able to feverishly produce. Its smash single Sweater Weather was the first song to leave a lasting impression on me, which is, in fact, a victory given my somewhat sheltered musical taste. And by sheltered I mean my refusal of exploring genres other than indie/alternative/post hardcore. The band has grown considerably since 2012. The band includes Jesse Rutherford, Jeremy Freedman, Zach Abels, Mikey Margott, and Bryan Sammis who formed the band in New-bury Park, California. Through the past year, the band has consistently become more rec-ognized and increasingly busy. Leading up to the release of its debut album I Love You, the band got a chance to perform at Coachella in 2013. Similar-ly, The Neighbourhood an-nounced its summer 2013 tour called “The Love Collection Tour.” This tour encased other similar alternative/in-die bands including Lovelife, The 1975, and JMSN.

Pictures courtesy of www.nbhd.com

The band even got a chance to perform its lead single Sweater Weather on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Following this, the band announced in late May that it would go on tour with the ever-pop-ular Imagine Dragons in July and also Septem-ber. Its smash hit Sweater Weather found its way to the top of the charts in early June 2013. Coincidentally, the song reached number 1 on Billboard’s alternative chart, it even broke the top ten on Billboard Heat seekers chart. While maintaining its fresh, easy-going sound, the band is also known for its music artworks and videos emanate a passion for the bands black-and-white imagery, which has gen-erated into a symbol of the band. And it seems the bands popularity has not yet reached its peak. I remember when it was still considered “underground,” and now you

can catch its tunes playing on the radio. The band was even being considered as the spring semester enter-tainment for Bloomsburg University students. In the midst of con-stantly changing genres, and new bands emerging like never before, one thing we can surely expect though, is only good things to come from the band in

the future. If you have not purchased the album, do so; it is well, well worth it. The Neighbour-hood’s avidity shines through in beams of mes-merizing sound, leaving fans wanting more.

We Need That A$AP

Hip-hop today has brought about so many unique artists with so many different styles. One of these art-ists has been making his mark on Hip-Hop within these past couple of years. His real name is Rakim May-ers but he goes by many aliases: Pretty Flacko, the Fashion Killa, Lord Flacko Jodie II, and his most famous A$AP Rocky. Rocky, known for his quotable lyrics and extreme fashion sense, is from the streets of Harlem, NY, where many other famous artists have come out from. He began to pick up the art of rap from his older brother when he was 8 years old. Not only did his older brother encour-age him to rap, but also he was the inspiration for his infamous French-braid hairstyle that Rocky has today. There was a lot of tragedy in Mayers’s life as a child. At 12 years old, his father went to prison for being connected to a drug operation. Only a year later, when he was 13 his older brother was killed in the streets of Harlem. All this hardship gave Rocky the motive to take rap more serious.

Being alone with his mother, he had to sell drugs and live in various homeless shelters to get by. In 2007, he decided to join the A$AP Mob Crew, which was a collection of producers, rappers, video directors, fashion designers, and bikers, all from Harlem that had similar interests in music, fashion, art, and style. The term ASAP is an acronym for Always Strive And Prosper. There are currently 8 members of the A$AP mob crew known as A$AP Ferg, A$AP Twelvy, A$AP Yams, A$AP Bari, A$AP Ty Beats, A$AP Ant, and A$AP Nast.

In 2011, his track Peso made its debut on YouTube, and within weeks gained so much popularity that the radio station, HOT 97 be-gan to play it on air. Not long after his song made it on the station, he released a visual for his song Purple Swag, that really gained the attention from several record labels. Later in October, his debut mix-tape Live.Love.A$AP was released and scored him a $3 million dollar record deal with RCA Records and Polo Grounds Music. Once he got signed, he decided to start his own label known as A$AP Worldwide. He is now signed with Sony Music Group Entertainment. Since then Rocky has been on his grind.

He has been nominated for awards at the BET Awards, BBC, MTV’s Video Music Awards, and MTV’s Europe Music Awards.Rocky actually took home a BET Award for best collaboration and an MTV Japan Music Award for Best Hip-Hop Video. In January, he released his debut album, Live.Long.A$AP, which debuted at num-ber 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with first week sales of 139,000 copies in the U.S. Also this year, Rocky starts his own fashion line, Hood By Air, which has become a hit amongst rappers and fashion lovers all over. Recently, he has been featured on many singles but everyone is awaiting his next project. Not only is Rocky a rapper, he is an entre-preneur and fashion guru, which makes him one of the most unique artists Hip-Hop has ever seen. Check out Rocky’s website for merch, touring info, and much more: http://bit.ly/18V7FoW.

Country Music: New or Old?Today, country music is different than it’s ever

been. Traditional, twangy styles are mostly a thing of the past, and country music has stepped into the 21st century. It’s been a hot topic in the country music world with some artists getting upset over the new direction that country music is headed. For example, the Zac Brown Band—whose music is very representative of country’s bluegrass roots—openly bashed Luke Bryan’s new song That’s My Kind of Night during a radio interview. Listen here: http://bit.ly/1cDJNVJ. He called the song “the worst song I’ve ever heard” despite the song’s popularity on the charts. Brown has since clarified that he is a fan of Bryan, just not the song. Blake Shelton, another pop-ular country artist, recently said, “Country music has to evolve in order to survive. Nobody wants to listen to their grandpa’s music.” Now more than ever, country music is reaching a wider audience and has a larger fan base. This is largely due to country music artists having popular crossover hits. A popular example is Taylor Swift. She start-ed her career as a country music singer and after having crossover after crossover hit, her new albums have had primarily a pop feel. It’s been a controver-sial topic for several years—many die-hard country fans are offended that Swift is still being nominated for awards at award shows like the CMA Awards.

Another popular example is Lady Antebellum’s crossover hit Need You Now and this summer’s an-them Cruise by Florida Georgia Line. The song was a huge hit, and then Nelly, an R&B artist, remixed it, and the song was taken to new heights. Winner of the CMA New Artist of the Year award Kacey Musgraves has also been vocal about identi-

fying with the new country music sound, and in an interview she said everyone is bored of hearing “truck songs.” These feuds were highlighted in Brad Paisley and Carrie Under-wood’s opening monologue at the 2013 CMA Awards. However, this was a night for everyone to come together. Zac Brown and Luke Bry-an hugged on-screen to show that there are no hard feelings. Taylor Swift, despite being not-so-country anymore, won the most awards during the broadcast.

She was honored with the Pinnacle Award that has only been given to one other artist, country legend Garth Brooks. To cap off the night, the king of country music, George Strait, was given the highest honor of the night—Entertainer of the Year. Whatever side of the fence you might be on—new country or old—the passion and love of the music will always be there.

Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks and Phoenix Coyotes. On the deadline, the league’s top scorer Steven Stamkos suffered a

tibia fracture in a game against the Boston Bruins. He is out indefinitely, forcing a rewrite of my story. As un-fortunate as it is for Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning, this proves the volatility and nature of elite hockey. The game can change on a dime. Teams with exceptional players will make playoffs as long as those guys remain healthy. The Pittsburgh Penguins have second ranked in the league Sidney Crosby with 23 points (8g, 15a) on the season and the Ana-heim Ducks have third-ranked Ryan Getzlaf with 22 points (10g, 12a) and fifth ranked Corey Perry with 21 points (11g, 10a). I think the San Jose Sharks, Chi-cago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs will also make playoffs. The Sharks have a strong rookie forward Tomas Hertl, who leads league rook-ies with 16 points (10g, 6a). San Jo-

se is currently fifth in the league and although the team has some strong competition in the pacific with the Ducks and Coyotes, I think they have the potential to go all the way. In the central division the Chicago Blackhawks always maintain a strong standing and are currently ranked third overall. the team. Forwards Patrick Kane, Pat-rick Sharp and d-man Duncan Keith are all playing well. This team doesn’t have one or two exceptionally good players, it is stacked with a ton of players that share the puck and work togeth-er. I think its biggest competition is the Colorado Avalanche in the same division. The Toronto Maple Leafs is off to a slow start. Right winger Phil Kessel is leading the team by a margin of six points and goal-tender Jonathan Bernier, despite having a record of 7-4-0-1, has a save percentage of .936. As long as the offense can start putting more points up for the team, the Leafs will make playoffs. Still, as the old saying goes it isn’t over until the fat lady sings, or should I say final buzzer rings?

Not even a quarter of the way through the regular season, the

16 teams lucky enough to clench the Stanley Cup playoffs could be anyone’s guess at this point. The last five years has seen four different organizations capture the illusive Cup including the Pittsburgh Penguins (2009), Chicago Black-hawks (2010, 2013), Boston Bru-ins (2011) and Los Angeles Kings (2012). This season consists of 82 games per team, 1,230 total regular season games and concludes April 13. The playoffs begin Wednesday, April 16th. In the eastern conference, the atlantic division is outplaying the metropolitan. The Pittsburgh Pen-guins is the only metro squad plac-ing within the top five as of Dec. 1. Tampa Bay Lightning, Pittsburgh

Penguins, Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins round out the top of the east. In the western conference, the pacific and central divisions split the top five. The Anaheim Ducks lead the west followed by

Canadian Basketball Players Dominating in the United States Luke Mesaros

In the world of sports, when someone thinks Canada, they’re probably thinking hockey and Wayne Gretzky. Well, there is a revolution occuring and it is happening right before our eyes; it isn’t hockey, nor soccer, but basketball.

The explosion of basketball talent coming from Canada over the past few years is something that cannot be ignored. Currently, the NBA is home to a total of only 10 Canadian born players. Seven of these ten players have three seasons or less of NBA experi-ence under their belt. The other three players being Joel Anthony of the Miami Heat, Samuel Dalem-bert of the Milwaukee Bucks, and perhaps the most notable Canadi-an to ever play in the NBA, Steve Nash of the Los Angeles Lakers.

longhorn teammate, Cory Joseph, was chosen by the San Antonio Spurs with the 29th overall pick. This also made history, as two Ca-nadians had never been chosen in the first round of the same draft.

2013 #1 Overall pick Anthony Bennett

In 2012, Canadians were awarded with another first round pick when Andrew Nicholson was chosen 19th overall by the Orlan-do Magic. Last year’s NBA draft brought more history to Canadian basketball players when Anthony Bennett was chosen by the Cleve-land Cavaliers with the number one overall pick. Canadian Kelly Olynyk was also chosen in the first round as the 13th overall pick by the Boston Celtics, repeating the historical mark of two first round picks made in 2011.

Anthony Bennett was the first Canadian born player ever to be chosen as a number one pick in the NBA draft, but with the way Canada is producing top pros-pects, he likely will not be the last. As of now, hyped up Kansas freshman star and Canadian na-tive Andrew Wiggins is projected to be the number one pick in the

2014 NBA draft according to ES-PN’s mock draft. From not having any number one draft picks to pos-sibly having the top pick two years in a row would definitely make a statement in the basketball world.

Another Canadian prospect who ranked in ESPN’s top 25 of the class of 2013 is Syracuse point guard Tyler Ennis. Ennis was recently one of ten players named to the 2014 freshman of the year watch list. Also from the class of 2013 was 44th ranked Xavier Rathan-Mayes who now is playing at Florida State.

Last recruiting class displayed a lot of talent and promise from Canada but it certainly did not stop after that. The highest ranked play-er from Canada in the 2014 high school class is forward Trey Lyles. He was ranked 7th overall in ES-PN’s top 100 and recently commit-ted to the University of Kentucky. Another Canadian 5-star prospect

Canadian Steve Nash of the Lakers

Class of ‘14 top ten recruit Trey Lyles

Former Texas forward Tristan Thompson started the Canadian basketball revolution when he was drafted fourth overall in the 2011 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. At the time, this was the highest a Canadian native had ever been drafted. Later in the first round, Thompson’s

coming up through the ranks is stud Justin Jackson. He is cur-rently the number seven-ranked prospect for the class of 2016.

So why the sudden rise of Cana-dian players topping the charts in American basketball leagues? When the Toronto Raptors and Vancouver Grizzlies became NBA franchises in 1995, basketball started to become more and more popular throughout Canada. All of the Canadian stars emerging currently and over the past few years are the first genera-tion that grew up with true Canadian teams to watch and be fans of.

Canada has been growing in basketball programs and dominant AAU teams that travel throughout the United States gaining exposure to the best competition. Howev-er, Canada still is not considered a force in basketball, so the top players usually transfer to a top prep high school in the states to gain further exposure and find better competition. Thompson, Bennett, Joseph, Wiggins, Lyles, Ennis, and Jackson all attended prep schools in the United States.

The top Canadian players trans-ferring to the United States for high school has proven to bebeneficial for their futures. However,

some coaches are trying to keep these stars in their home country as long as possible. A new Cana-dian prep school called Athlete Institute in Orangeville, Ontario has been started with the intentions to keep some of Canada’s top talent close to home and not transfered to the United States. The idea is to have an international schedule giving the athletes the opportunity to play against top schools from the U.S. while at the same time representing Canada and getting equal exposure.

At the collegiate level those players who choose to stay in Canada for their schooling and basketball have a different way of gaining exposure. For exam-ple, every pre-season Canadian teams get the opportunity to have exhibition games against United States teams throughout the mid to northern parts of the U.S. This past pre-season, Canadian pow-erhouse, Carelton University was able to come out victorious over Wisconsin and lost a close one to Syracuse in overtime.

Canada as a country has had

minimal success in basketball competitions. The only Olym-pic medal it has ever won was back in 1936 when it took silver. However, with the rise in talent and the growing popularity of the sport, this also may begin to change. As more and more Ca-nadian players make impacts at the college and pro level, popularity of the sport will only continue to grow.

Of all sports, basketball proved to be the most popu-lar team sport for Canadians aged 12-17 based off of a 2010 study done by Toronto-based Solutions Research Group. The future only continues to look up for Canada as a basketball nation.

The Toronto Raptors and Vancouver Grizzlies joined the NBA in 1995, marking the first teams to play out of Canada.

NBA: Power Rankings The moment die hard basketball fans have been waiting for is here, the start of the 2013 NBA Season! It offers the chance to watch the NBA’s 32 teams competing for the title of basketball world champions. This past offseason there have been many changes within the league. With players being signed, rook-ies drafted, and blockbuster trades, playoff contending teams have fallen off, teams who were struggling are back in it, and there’s just a whole new feel to the NBA. Know one knows how the season will end. Here are the top-5 power ranked teams in the league so far. Holding the number one spot are the Indiana Pacers. They were undefeated their first nine games and are looking spectacular. Paul George has really grown as a player and become the superstar for their team. With him, West, Hibbert, Stephen-son, and Granger, the Pacers have a solid squad. Right behind them at number two are the two-time reigning cham-pions, the Miami Heat have been at the top of their game the past two seasons taking home two champi-onships in a row. They are definitely going to play they’re hardest for the three-peat. With basically the same roster, with the exceptions of newly added Michael Beasley and Greg Oden, they will look to be the num-ber one team in the league again. In third place we have the Hous-ton Rockets. When they acquired James Harden last season, their chances for success grew

instantaneously. Over the offseason they acquired, all-star center, Dwight Howard, who is arguably the best center in the game. They got what they were lacking in Omar Asik and that was a superstar center. They’re chances look really good. At number four are the Golden State Warriors. Golden State proba-bly has the deadliest backcourt with Stephen Curry at point and Klay Thompson at shooting guard. Not to mention David Lee is one of the top centers in the league. Now, with their recent trade to obtain Andre Iguoda-la, it just adds to their tremendous talent. Iguodala is a force and an all-star player to say the least. Last but not least is the Oklaho-ma City Thunder. Who could doubt the talent of superstars, Kevin Du-rant and Russell Westbrook? These two are within the top ten players in the league itself. Kevin Durant is a three-time all scoring leader and Russell Westbrook is just a phenom-enal athlete. They’ve been aching to get a ring for some time now, so they’re definitely going to bring it all this season. There you have it, the top five power ranked teams in the league this season .
