Frequently Asked Questions

Will my pet need to be shaved?

Yes. Shaving the area to be examined will

provide better ultrasound imaging and may

help complete the ultrasound exam sooner.

Will my pet need to fast prior to procedure?

Yes, it is desirable to fast the patient over-

night, allowing water up to 4 hours before

the procedure.

Will my pet need anesthesia?

Most ultrasounds are done without the need

for sedation or anesthesia. Exceptions are

pets that are highly stressed or those that

require a biopsy.

Can the pet guardian be present?

Yes, it is encouraged that you be present

during the procedure as the pet seems more

relaxed with your presence. When the

ultrasound is complete, you are free to leave

with your pet.

When will I receive the exam results?

Your veterinarian will be provided with the

ultrasound results within 24-hours.

What are your hours?

Routine ultrasound exams are performed

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday

mornings. Emergency ultrasound is available

outside of these hours.
