Player’s Guide Terminology Ante: The initial bet placed by the player allowing him to play against the dealer and to participate in the game. Blind: The initial bet placed by the player allowing him to play against the dealer and to participate in the game. Play: Secondary bet placed by the player to continue to play against the dealer; based on the strength of his hand of cards against the possible cards of the dealer. Trips: An optional bonus bet where the player wins three of a kind or better. Fold: Player’s decision to withdraw from the game and forfeit their Ante bet. Stand Off/Tie or Push: The situation where both the player and the dealer hand match each other and no payment is made. Odds: Multiples of the bet paid to winning hands according to amounts shown in the pay table. How to Play The player makes equal bets in the Ante and Blind betting areas and may also bet the optional Trips bonus bet. The player will then receive two cards called their ‘hole’ cards, and must then decide to either check or bet 3 or 4 times their Ante bet. The dealer then reveals the three card flop and if the player has not made a Play bet they then have the opportunity to check or bet 2 times their Ante. The dealer then reveals the final two community cards and at this stage the player must make a Play but equivalent to their Ante or Fold. The dealer’s two hole cards are then revealed and the dealer announces their hand. If the player’s hand beats the dealer’s hand the player’s Play and Ante bets win even money. If the dealer’s hand beats the player’s hand the player’s Play, Ante and Blind bets lose. If the player’s hand ties with the dealer’s hand, the Play, Ante and Blind bets push. The Blind bet only pays if the player’s winning hand is at least a Straight or higher. (See layout for odds). No suit or colour of card will hold preference and only the face value of the card will be taken into consideration for a countdown. The dealer needs a pair or higher to qualify. When the dealer doesn’t qualify, the dealer returns all the Player’s Ante bets and all other bets receive actions. Ultimate Texas Hold’em Poker is a variation of Texas Hold’em and features heads-up play against the dealer. Played with one deck of cards the game has an optional bonus bet and gives the player the advantage of firstly being able to bet more, earlier in the hand, and secondly, the player doesn’t have to fold until seeing all the community cards.
